Ya, i would probably put one under if a 9" weren't available. As you have noted that people want an arm and a leg for their 9" housings/gears and especially limited slip units..

Be sure to choose the best gear ratio and check the limited slip out for proper function before buying an 8.8 though.

Is your 8" (that's currently in the wagon) 54" wide measured from backing plate to backing plate? Or?
