I definitely WOULD NOT setup a porting polishing station in any place near the furnace due to the flammable properties of the dust. That and the metal dust gets everywhere and loves rusting in places that are hard to reach..

I once set up a porting polishing area in my laundry room years ago. A nice room with white textured Sheetrock....The cast iron dust "found" all of the nail heads and immigrated everyplace in the room and the rust that appeared later sheesh...I even used a vacuum while porting and after.
