460 PI heads

What is a fair price for a pair of used police interceptor heads for a 460? What are the advantage of these over D3VE-A2A's?

It would depend upon the shape the heads are in, how complete they are and whether you intend to modify them before you use them.

I need to call the guy and see but his ad says they have been cleaned and inspected by a machine shop. I am looking to go for a direct replacement without porting.

as cast they're better than D3 as cast. they have a bit smaller combustion chamber and their ports have a better shape.

I got a nice set of PI heads from ENGINE SYSTEMS for $ 400. It seems reasonable to me.

The guy is asking $300. I still need to call him but how much better are these over the A2A's? Is it worth the money to swap them over?

Yes, they are worth the money and the swap... They are a much needed improvement over the D3 heads... If you're just going to do a direct swap, you won't be sorry... As stated, they have smaller combustion chambers, bigger valves, and better ports...

Get the numbers off of them before you purchase them and post them on here, just to make sure they are what the seller is telling you they are.

Okay, they have been dipped and cleaned by a machine shop. The casting # is D2OE-AB. He has the receipt from the shop that checked them out. They are bare. What am I looking at price wise to get them re-built and how hard is it to find parts for? Thanks.

Shure wish I could find some that cheap. I gave $700 for mine, and they were all original still with original springs and valves.

Depends on intended use. Week end cruiser with minimal mileage every year no.

If it is gonna see some miles then yes. Make sure the shop doing it puts in the right size seat insert.
