What I'm trying to do is set a basic timing so I can start tuning from there. The pointer is set in the block. The damper shows a 0-60 marking on it. Everything I've read says timeing should be set from 10-14 degrees btdc. I currently have the timing set a 36 using the markings on the damper. If' I.m reading the marking correctly on the damper, that would correspond to 1 to 60 btdc. Is that correct? If I tried moving the timing to 14 degrees per the markings on the damper, then the engine would not run. So, I am thinking that the markings on the damper are actually for the crank, and that tiing number should be something different than the spec in the manual for ignition timing.
I've seen references to crank timing and ignition timing, but never seen a spec for crank timing.
Sorry, really kinda confused here.
