All depends on the rest of the build and what is expected out of the engine.

If you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much space!

Engine size, camshaft size, port flange size and engine running environment will be the most telling differences.

8012 or 8021 Weiand Stealth?

The Pope
77 F250 2wd, C6, Long Bed, HD Susp. Package.
Weiand Stealth 8012 IM, Holley 4150 750, MSD 6AL, Doug Thorley Headers (THY-211Y), 3" Dual Exh.

What I "Think" I want to build: 545ci, P-51 Heads, 10-10.5:1 cr, Hyd Roller Cam w/ solid roller lifters (?Isky’s EZ Roller Lifters?), Stealth 8021 IM, Street Gas, all with room to grow so that later I can use it to just strike fear in the eyes of them Chebby Guys!

Maybe someone should post some results... or watt tom says at ford racing. I just ordered the weiand stealth intake namely due to budget reasons. 300 for a carb intake is kinda rediculous. My 521 wit edelbrock heads and a lunati 244/249 hyd flat tappet cam is by no means a race engine and will be mainly street driven. I think my engine is pretty balanced. But the differences of the edelbrock and weiand is what exactly? Port design? Runner length? Would a port matched weiand stealth intake perform more like a edelbrock? Wat are the flaws of the weiand when compared to the edelbrock?

I would also think that either intake would be better for a different setup... where would the line be drawed for using the edelbrock over the weiand?

Some of my tests were one's which Tom has compiled.
The "Stealth", (8021), needs a large engine with Cobra-jet sized ports, a reletively big camshaft and a already cool environment to be run at Wide Open Throttle most of the time. In most other situations, the "Air-Gap" will deliver better results, (though the difference is not very much), and better than anything an 8012 can deliver, without porting it.

Gentlemen,

I am going to again state that when Mr. Randy Malik speaks pay strict attention. He KNOWS exactly what he is talking about.

That sounds like the answer I was looking for Mr. Malik. The engine I am attemting to build is 69 460 out of a MK 3 and is going in a 66 Comet sedan backed by a 4spd. It will see little street use like to the hotrod gatherings but mostly track use. Im on a very tight budget due to being hurt at work and now basicly disabled, so this is my way of giving the finger to the system to say Im not going down quietly..lol..My idea is this I can not afford to build a huge cube engine off the bat so I will do it over time. I want to start with basic short block, If doesn't need a boring yet, porting the C9VE heads, large valves, big cam, intake, 850 carb, headers, I havent decided yet wether to go 2" primarys or 1-7/8. I want to try and get to most out of this monster a little at a time and with an already light weight car it ought to perform well. In theroy at least..Thoughts?

Interesting. The edelbrock intakes come gasket matched from edelbrock tho. How would the 8012 perform with a gasket matched and some cleaning up? How much would one be leaving on the table by going with the 8012 compared to the airgap?
