High torque starter install.

Well i just upgraded from the stock style starter to the high torque style starter and figured i would share my experience.

After pulling the starter out i seen there is a huge difference, the aftermarket starter comes with a built in solonid that has to get a jumper wire to use with the remote mount solonoid. To clear my headers i had to rotate the mount but it was just 2 alen keys and no big deal. You do have to check pinion depth to make sure you have 1/16 clearence from the flywheel (i was fine) but if too close they do supply a ship to install.

What brand is it and how much was it?

Make sure those 2 clocking screws are in there tight but don't use any thread locker. ....ask me how I know.

To clear my headers had to run the wire to the remote solenoid up and over between the intake and valve cover.

It is a big block for DENSO starter.
Part # BEP50018
Cost just over $110

O ya the lower screw to bolt the starter on has to be installed before the universal plate goes on and can only be tightned with a wrench. You can see it in this picture.

It,s best to install a stud and locktite it in then install the starter using a nut. I also use a 12 point nut

why didn't you just go with a OEM hi tq mini starter? i followed what others are doing and getting a lifetime guarantee warranty start from a part house.

i just asked for a starter for a 96 f350 with a 7.5!

I asked for the same, works great and in a pinch any motor off another stock Ford GR starter could be installed to get her started. I keep a spare motor for the starter in the tickle trunk I take to the track full of spares.

The stock starter is more expensive, and I had no clue of the ratio. This Denso starter says right on the instructions good for up to 12:1 compression, And has a 3 year warranty.

It was a no brainier, cheaper and built for my application.
