ahh crap.. new motor wont run.... watch the video!

Any thoughts? I would bet 100$ my cam timing is right, dizzy is right, wires are right. Someone told me its because I set my valves at .030 but I don't see how that could be any part of it...


77 f150 short bed , 466 chipped at 6800 , comp 292 cam , 2800 stall c6, 5.13's/ 38.5's

its what the cam card said, i thought it was a little much but comp cams knows more than me so

Something on the timing is definately out of whack. Try advancing it or retarding it to see if it wants to kick easier.
You have .030" lash, yes??....I mean they are'nt tightened down .030", right??

I've turned the dizzy every direction. I know I timed that cam right and I hate to pull all that garbage off the front of the motor to check it lol...

your lash is .030 hot not cold.aluminum heads will grow with heat and open your lash so i'd be more like .022/.024 cold. it sounds like it needs some timing to me....

You would'nt have to tear it all apart to verify the cam timing. Just pull the valvecover and check the timing events for #1 cyl. and check them against the timing marker and the balancer.

But it does sound like it could be one tooth off on the distributor.

Yup, sure sounds like ignition timing to me also.... Remember, Ford distributors turn counter clockwise... lol!

I guess ill try turning the dizzy 1 tooth each way but when it set down the whole way into the block , the rotor was pointing directly at no. 1 plug wire on the cap

I'm gonna do a compression test then ill pull the valve covers off and redo my rockers, and then try 1 tooth on the dizzy...

Might try moving the dizzy first

I had a similar problem one time with a rebuilt Cleveland,it turned out the coil crapped out.
