Is it ok to install the crank rear seal so that the gaps between its 2 half rubber pieces lines up with the gaps where the bearing cap meets the engine block?
I have always offset by around 1/4 inch so that they don't line up at the cap, and just a dab of silicone on 460 and other engines using a two piece seal. Just make sure you put the seal in the right direction, or it will leak.
There should not be an issue as long as you can get the top and bottom of the seal exactly in-line, front to rear.
Offsetting makes that a whole lot easier.
