What year EFI to build

So after a few days and a lot of reading I am not sure if I should get a SD or MAF truck.
Goal is 400+/- Hp. If less or more I am ok with it. Looking for suggestions of what one is easier to get the computer to play nice.
Looking to build the truck on wider but not taller then stock tires std cab or ext Run on 89-91oct, Street and some towing and maybe a few track passes when my BBF Capri is cooling down.
So I am looking for direction on year. (will drive what heads and if I need bigger valves I'll do at home port work)
cam, headers, Compression, Pistons or shaved head/block, injectors and the big one tune or chips. I see that Jet can burn one for my set up after I give them the specs.
I have a 13 ecoboost and I just want to make sure I can out perform it. (Not in MPG)
Thank for the help guys. I am really sorry if this has been gone over before but I was not sure on a few things after all the post I read.

Great question. when my wife's lease is up I am going to give her my loved EB to tote the kids around and as the family wagon. I want to get down on some bills so I am doing all I can to be down to minimal money going out by November next year to help start my own machine shop. I have a super coupe swapped 95 mustang that I will use as a daily but I still want a truck to go beat on and if its broken not a big deal because I can still get the family around. No mods to the EB until the warranty is up.

Start with the exhaust on an EFI 460. Biggest bang for the buck and no computer problems.
The Mad Porter knows the build limitations that the EEC IV ECM will tolerate.
If you exceed those build limitations, there is a tuner that will fit the J3 port on any EEC IV. TwEECer.com
I'm running a 528" stroker in my 95 EFI SD motorhome with the TwEECer, tuned by the designer/builder, Mike Glover. Cam grind is the major limitation of EEC IV EFI engines.

We build a 400+ hp crate engine that works VERY well with the oem SD ecm. The Hp and Tq peaks are similar to the OEM package.

A good straight through exhaust system with headers with a low restriction air cleaner is a start. An adjustable fuel pressure regulator is needed as at WOT all 460 EFI engines are lean especially with upgrades are done.

The OEM fuel pumps are 33 GPH or 125 Lph. 255 lph drop in fuel pump modules are available here:

Copy this build if you wish:

The build is done with with three different cams depending on altitude, towing duty and desired torque bias.

The Mad Porter Thank ! I came across your builds and have it copied over. I am putting together a parts list now with best price and location.
Looked a few trucks already just have not found one yet as I was looking for a MAF truck to start with. If a SD truck will get me where I need I am good with that. What is the cut off with hp and Tq for a SD truck with a tune, fuel pump, and adjustable fuel pressure and engine work?

With a tweecer or sct tune you can place HP where you want it provided you use bigger injectors.

We recently built a 545 EFI combo with ported E7 heads, ported intake and custom efi cam for a client in Carson city Nevada at 4400+ feet that did 650 tq @ 3,200 and 500.8 HP at 4500 rpm sea level. Output at altitude will be down 15%. Client is using an SCT chip. To be fair the combo had high compression to compensate for operation at 4,400 to 9,000 feet.

To be usable at sea level the c/r would have to come down.

To be honest the 400+ hp combo is a massive improvement over the oem combo 93 and up and even more so from 88 to 92.
