I'll be honest, when it comes to this, I'm a bit out of touch! I'm competent, and completely comfortable in doing the necessary, but have never got this deep into a "brand new everything" build, by myself. Just need a little help with what and where I need to be. I've got a .030 over 429 TJ, forged sealed power l2366f pistons, stock crank, stock rods, D0VE C
ported heads w/enlarged valves 2.19 intake, 1.72 exhaust & 75cc combustion chambers, comp cam with 242 intake and 257 exhaust duration @ .050 lift, valve lift of .531 intake, and .515 exhaust, with 107° lobe sep. I'm running the Edelbrock torker 2 intake (height for shaker and cam match), holley 700 double pumper, Mallory dual point dizzy. I can't seem to get it to idle, without advancing timing 18°-20°. The best I can get my dwell set at is 28°-29°. Points gap being .012 (memory). The car is a 1970 ford torino cobra, 4 speed toploader. 4:30 gear rear end. I have a feeling that I am way to far advanced, as when you go to accelerate, there is some detination, and pretty "doggy". My elevation is 3100' above sea level. Is there something else I can do with this dizzy? I do think I need to be bigger on the carb side, but I think this issue is more timing? You guys are great! Thank you for any help! Phil it
