Blower questions

How are you guys running your blower set ups for the street?
I have no issue machining a plate and tig welding it on to a intake. Will a single carb intake work or should I got for a dual quad lower?
What distributor do you run to clear it? Crab cap?

i'm not sure exactly what you're asking regarding how we're running them? We could better assist you if we know the car, weight, street only or street/strip duty, and what if any parts do you currently have that you may use or intend to use? Will you be running stock frame or tube frame? front plate with mid or motor mounts?

I think it would be a lot easier just to buy a manifold from one of the blower shops or if you can find one get a Blue Thunder. No welding needed. All of the blower shops can put together a complete blower package that will work better to go this route than try to piece one together yourself if you haven't done it before. Just my thoughts.

I like many others want a supercharger. One of the guys I work with bought a pro street nova with a home made blower intake. I am a machinist and designer by trade and was thinking of making my own intake. After a search last night I found some intakes around $750-900. and a blower package for around $3500.
I have a 69 mustang coupe fiber glass fenders stang II suspension all disk brakes 8.8 with sub frames. Just a street car I have been building for a few years. I have a .03 over 73 460 with ported polished and 3 angle valve jobe d3's with forged flat tops. I know I would have to do new pistons to run the blower.
I was looking at the P51 heads or the blower set up.(cant do both) Maybe next winter a aluminum block.

Just my 2 cents but forget the Aluminum block. The money spent on that could buy some pretty nice parts for the P-51 headed motor. The aluminum block is a waste for anything other than an all out race car. Or just use the money to build that blower motor There are a few on here that have blown 385's and stock blocks with no problems. Get an engine builder on here to build it for you and have at it. Oh and maybe get rid of that 8.8. Just my 2 cents.

You could probably make the ProComp 2x4 intake work for you.

It was discussed here;

just my opinion i would go with a Don Hampton kit or if you want to go for the nice billet stuff the blower shop has some nice stuff. I have a 521 and am running a 8-71 kit from Don Hampton. The intake is actually from BDS but Hampton packages it with his kit. My intake has no water outlet so we had holes drilled in the heads. I am running a mallory distributor with a crab cap, but specifically part#MAA-3756001 as this was the only one i could find to clear without going offset or crank trigger.
