Mild 460 for Monte1go

Hey All. I had a great day at the dyno yesterday, and wanted to post my build. It's a pretty mild .030 over 460 and the carb is too small (Holley 770 Street Avenger)

Made ~ 8 pulls and played with air bleeds, timing, and jetting. ended up making best power with 82 front, 78 rear and 36* timing. I think I'm giving up a good amount (20hp or more) by only having a vac sec 770 CFM.

Engine Shortblock: 467 cu in - Stock Crank/Rods w/ARP bolts TRW Forged Pistons 10.2:1 Compression
Heads: Early small chamber (C8, C9, D0) with maybe a touch of cleanup
Cam: FMS M-6250-A443 (234*/244* @ .050" w/ .562/.588" lift I/E respectivley)
Valvetrain: 3/8 pushrods, Harland Sharpe Roller Rockers, Yadda Yadda

Made 430 hp, 461 lbft with a table top flat tq curve.

How much cash would you say you have tied up in the build? Just curious as the the build cost as I'm possibly doing something similar.

Good job! Power numbers seem to be in line. Still running that Stealth? I pretty much gave up on VS carbs for anything but a pure street car after wasting tons of dyno time on them only to bolt on a DP and gain 25HP on the first pull. Mid level gains were always huge too.

Looking forward to seeing some in-car reports!

Nice torque "curve". Should move that car nicely.

As far as cash I'd say about 3500. I got the engine newly built off a fellow 460ford.com member. About 3k for long block, plus I had to buy a new oil pump for my front sump setup. The engine came with front cover, valve covers (that'll prob get changed anyway) and the msd dist/box plus the stealth manifold (although I already had one on my old engine). If I sell all the other stuff I might end up south of 3k.

Also of note is there was significant interference between the intake and carb, and we had to do some grinding on the manifold...no wonder my 429 felt strong up to 3k and flat lined...Its the little things you find on the dyno that really make it worth it!
