C6 Strange Behaviour

Hello all!
I just got the 460 /C6 combo together and fired for the first time. I bought the trans used, it was built by a reputable shop, full roller internals and manual reverse valve body. We went through it and put new clutches and plates in it, all clearances were to factory spec, air tested fine.

The problem is that it appears to shift out of sequence... Where it should shift 1-2-3, it looks to shift 2-1-3:surprise:! I'm a little baffled.... Reverse works fine.

I'm going to take the valve body out / apart for inspection, anyone have any ideas of what in particular I should be looking for?

Thanks!

I'm not good enough to pinpoint the problem, but here's what the service manual for the C6 says:

Starts up in 2nd or 3rd:
Improper fluid level
Damaged or improperly adjusted linkage
Improper band and/or clutch application, or oil pressure control system
Damaged or worn governor
Valve body loose
Dirty or sticking valve body
Cross links between valve body and case mating surface

Shifts 1 - 3 in D:
Improper fluid level
Intermediate band out of adjustment
Damaged intermediate servo and/or internal leaks
Polished or glazed band or drum
Improper band or clutch application, or oil pressure control system
Dirty or sticking valve body

You probably will be able to eliminate many, but there will still be a lot to check. Best wishes.:)
