Hi everyone. I just got the brackets in that I think I need. I was curious though. Please look at the attached two photos. They are both going to show the power steering pump. One is a little bit more zoomed in the other because I want you guys to look at this bracket and let me know if I need it. It is the power steering pump hose indexing bracket. there is a third photo that I wanted to see if anyone could identify what this is. Came with my brackets and I do not know where to put it. OK and final question. There is an aluminum bracket that literally bolts onto the power steering pump. Can anyone tell me if I need a stud that goes all the way through to the block or the cylinder head for this? Thank you all so much I really appreciate it.
I'm not exactly sure what the third bracket is, but it looks very much like the lower rear a/c mounting bracket except my bracket has two mounting holes to the head and two to the a/c compressor.
I'm not having much luck with your pics opening up to a bigger shot. But, I have my daughters 68 thunderbird in the garage right now with the 429 thunderjet in it all complete that I can take pics of if you need them or think it will help. On the 68 thunderbird the power steering is also the windshield wiper power/delay system, lol. Hydraulic wipers! Go figure.
Let me know if you want me to try and post some pics of the mounting... Even easier would be to PM me a number and I could text send as many pics/angles that you want. Let me know
Auggie
While I'm not sure what your unidentified bracket is for I can tell you that if you have the correct pressure hose that allows you to route it thru the indexing bracket it will minimize hose flexing to cause your connection to the back of the pump to loosen, when you get everything together and running have someone turn the steering wheel while you watch that hose and you will be surprised how much it tries to move because the hose wants to straighten out.

Yes you need a long bolt right thru the aluminum bracket and into the head. Probably 3/8" UNC? I'd go & check but temperature outside is around freezing.
