It's time for me to pull the trigger on a radiator, and I was pointed towards the 31x19x3" Griffin universal unit which people say fits perfectly into a Foxbody. Problem is, it doesn't appear to have provisions for a transmission cooler. I have a separate transmission cooler that I had planned on running but a buddy said it may not be a good idea because automatics don't like to be cold either.
Transmission is a built C6 with a Broader reverse manual valve body and will be running a 3000-3300 stall which may end up being higher depending on chosen converter. Temperatures in this region are pretty hot and humid most of the year but it will be driven occasionally in the winter. This is a street/strip car.
Is a separate transmission cooler going to be alright with this combo? I had originally figured the stall converter would generate more than enough heat to keep the transmission in good running order.
Or, should I plumb it into the radiator?
I can always install a temperature gauge and monitor I suppose, but adding radiator plumbing is a no go for me. I'd rather just buy something with it if I need it. The Griffin seems to have a good reputation for only around $175 so it's hard to say no.
