I may get some relief from spending over the winter as I decided to hold off on the 598 short block but I have seriously been considering having an all chromoly 25.5 cage installed and do a mini-tub. Its only another $3500 if I show up everyday to cut and notch tubes while he is welding it all in.

What kind did you get? Front? Back? Or both?

That should work out just fine for you. Are you going to run some kind of ceramic pads?

Was told they would work fine on my car. This is new territory for me and the car will have a parachute, will I be using it regularly or am I gonna need to use it for sure now where I may have been able to stop with 4 wheel discs without it?

I was thinking about this overnight and this morning. Drum brakes on your car seem scary to me. Stock Torino drum brakes just weren't designed to do what you are going to be doing with them. Especially in drag cars like ours where the rear brakes are supposed to do most of the work. A parachute is great but what happens if it fails? Too risky if you ask me. Sorry. I had to speak up. I know it is money and all but I'd reconsider if I were you.

X1000....you're building a pretty serious piece of equipment there.....safety shouldn't be second guessed, and rear disc conversions are relatively cheap for what you've got invested. Just my (and a lot of other people's) opinion...your car looks too good to cheap out on brakes, besides

All wheel disc gets my vote too!!!! hell, i'm only going very low 11's and stopping down the track with "pizza cutting front runnet tires" to stop with up front is kind of panicky as well. however i don't hit the brakes very hard as i always plan to hit the 3rd exit turn out road. should also help when i get a vacuum pump to help assist me with vacuum as the vacuum tank isn't helping. and sometimes i forget to keep it in gear until i slow down so that i even have vacuum.

I will also add that last Saturday night at Ohio Valley there was a pretty bad wreck in the Outlaw True Street class. The Mustang in the right lane (looked just like mine by the way) lost it and crossed over in front of the guy in the left lane. The guy in the left lane had no chance to pull a chute. But he sure as hell got on the binders FAST!! Frankly I'm not sure how he missed him. You will be close to as fast as those guys are... They are running very low 5's and high 4's in the 1/8th mile.

Sorry Eric. Safety should be first. Hell, Aerospace rears are fairly affordable, and while not top of the line, they work great.
