Rear suspension question (with Video)

I just got my truck together..I was watching a few vids from the test passes and notice the rear end loads up and un loads all the way down my test track. The rear suspension is two leaf springs 54in ladder bars 2 degree pinon angle and no pre load and single adjustable shock.. Any input or advice would be great if you need more info let me know.

Looks like the rebound valving may be too soft in the rear shocks. It transfers well, just looks like it could use a bit more rebound to keep the weight "pinned" if you will. A 7 or even a 8 valve may be better suited.

Looks like a screamer, for sure.

I was thinking the same thing. Also, what pressure are you running in the rear tires? Wonder if the semi wet dirt is making you hook and let go causing the tires to spin and giving the on-off-on loading deal.

I think you guys are right that is the same answer I have received from several people. I had the shocks set on the lightest setting during those runs. The rear tires were at 10psi

Asking me or Derrick? With the QA1 Proma Star single adjustables its sort of a mix where the dial adjusts compression and rebound at even intervals. There are 18 settings where the lower the dial, the softer the suspension gets.

I would have rather went with QA1s or something similar but went with RS9000 ranchos I needed more suspension travel and drop for some of the tracks I get air born. They have 9 positions soft-firm the compression and rebounds are the same just depends on how the dial is set on how firm or soft it is. I think I found part of my problem I already have a bad left rear shock so not impressed with them so far since they have a total of 7 test passes on them!!!

If you can swing it, the double adjustable QA1's are the catsazz for adjustment. Get a 14" spring setup and the corrct length shock and all will be right in the world. Or you can go really big money and look at the Fox shocks. I'm looking at getting a set of the 2.0 series for my front since class rules say I can't run a "coilover" up front, I'll leave the front spring sort of unloaded and let the nitrogen charged shock do all the work!

I can't run the coil overs at some of the tracks. For now I am going to warranty the rancho and try them for awhile. I will start saving for better ones!

Sorry for the question, just know that some of the higher end circle track shocks are set valve on one side, and like 9-12 positions on the other, mostly depending on which corner it was meant for. Adjustments in rebound are more noticeable than compression, so even a 1 click change may make all the difference.

To hazard a guess, was the bad shock on the left rear?

Watching the video, the right rear stays planted. Maybe try the same setting with the new shock, and see how it likes it. Also, maybe try dropping to 7-8 lbs in the cuts, just to see how it likes it.

Looks like once you come out of your launch holes your front stays up so is it possible that your springs are too week and your slamming so hard your bouncing off your bump stops?
