I broke the front axle shaft in my 92 f250 and cant find anything in Canada. Found a2002 f250 4x4 doner truck. Anyone ever done a axle swap like this? Is the 2002 close to the same as the 97 super duty?
A 92 250 has a ttb axle which im sure your aware of. The 2002 is most likely a d50 solid axle. The leaf springs under a 250 are actually different than what is needed for a solid axle truck. If you do the swap look for some old body style 350 trucks which had the right springs. its in the way they were set up to actualy twist with the up and down movement of the axle. But a 92-97 f350 d60 axle would be the easiest and by far the best alternative to swap in. You wouldn't have to change wheels and run different up front and the track bar and steering links most loiky will require modification. There is kits available to swap in a f350 d60 solid axle. a 97 super duty is a F450 style truck. A 97 heavy duty is the f250 350 style. the 99+ is the super dutys in 250 and up. By the way what part exactly is broken in your d50 ttb? They are very common around here.
I found a 94 f250 tow truck for 3000 bucks I'm looking at for a donor truck with a 5speed I think I'll go that route I cooked my transmission wast weekend so with all the parts I need seems like a good deal and 2 winches
