I have been trying to come up with a good combonation for my 514 build up, but with all of the people I know I am the black sheep of the family with my big block.
To the question at hand. I have numerous parts to start, but when it comes to my heads I am at a losse. I have 2 sets of D3VE A2A heads but I have been told I need to go aluminum to get rid of the weight and gain more power. My thing is I would like to run spray and possibly a turbo on this vehicle in the future.
Q. Can I port these heads enough to get the power I want out of this 514.
or am I going to have to go to an aluminum head, and if I go aluminum will they handle what I am going to throw at them.

for the money you will spend to get those heads done right and the gains you would be better off to get a set of TFS street heads or a set of FRP scj's and lose the weight Plus you have room for improvement later.
I am going to step out on a limb and say that yes you can run a good amount of Nos with them also Many on here are. Just think also you will be loosing about 60 lbs or more weight off the engine just from the Aluminum heads.

You want an honest opinion. To make good power go the aluminium. It costs $$$ to do the cast iron heads by the time you fit bigger valves ,port, convert to adjustable valvetrain etc.. If you really want to use the D3's the only person that can make them work is ScottJ on this website.

I would go arruminum too for "all of the above" reasons...
If you are interested, I have a used set of Ford Cobra Jet Heads sitting around doing nothing... They have about 7800 street miles on them and they came off of a Ford 460/535HP Crate Motor...
They could probably use a good "once over" but they worked fine until I went to a 520 in my car, then I got the SCJ ones...
PM me or just reply here if you are interested...
