Eagle 501 kit with SRP flat tops, Comp catalog flat tappet 640 lift, A429 heads and Victor intake. Falcon weights 2650lbs. First full pass had 1.243 60ft and 5.827 @ 114.02 MPH. Second pass had 1.245 60ft and 5.830 @ 114.05 MPH. The car pulls the tires close to the 60ft mark. Bottom end torque seems to be strong. Leaving @3800 RPMs, don't want to go higher yet, no wheelie bars. I think it was a good first time out. :D

I'd say that's excellent performance for what you have. What carb, trans, rear gear, etc. are you running? Whatever you have, it's working. Those are very good 60" times. Good job!

That's pretty much the same set up as my dads and they car weight the same and pretty much run the same numbers. My dad motor is a 503ci A429 Heads. Flat top pistons Port 'O' Sonic intake. 1150 Dominator. Hooker Super Comp headers. The motor has Lunati cam. The lift is .647in .656ex. Duration @50 is 268in 278ex. Lobe separation 106
His car goes 1.28-30 60ft 5.80's@120.

I'm running a 1050 Dominator with 92 jets square, 2 1/8 primary to 4" collectors, PG trans with a pro brake. The gear ratio is 4.88. I went from 1.40 60ft to the 1.24. The first time got my attention.

I agree!

Gives me hope for my A429 heads on a larger engine

What is a 501 ? .030 over std bore and a 4.14 stroke ? That's pretty impressive I think !! These motor's are real strong runners for the buck.My 514 has flat tops ,714 solid roller A429 heads and a quick fuel 1050 dominator on alky in a 2320lb car with a glide and 4.56 with a 14x32 and a 5800 stall , it goes 1.16 60ft(leaving at 3000rpm) at 124mph.I'd like to try a 557 shortblock and see what happens??These bigblock strokers are all pretty close in pricing, and SIZE DOES SEEM TO MATTER!!!!

Dan, what kind of rpms are you turning in the 1/8 mile? I run a 4.29 gear to allow me to run 1/4 or 1/8. I turn 7200 in the 1/4 but only 6300 in the 1/8. I have been thinking about possibly putting together another third member with a 4.56 gear just for the 1/8. :D

By the way, Raymond your car is pretty strong showing numbers like that first time out. Good job !!! :D

Chris , I go through the traps at about 6800 to 6900 range, i wish i'd put 4.30's in my car last time, i'd like to be able to go through 1/4.I may even try a 4.11. I've got a stock block and cast crank , I really don't want to go over 7000 rpm with it.I wouldn't mind to calm it down a little on the starting line anyway and get more mph.I've had trouble in the past breaking oil pumps off at higher rpm's.I've got a different guy balancing my motor now though, but I'm still skeered to go upstairs with it?I think I'm going to go to a 9" convertor someday too, it almost feels like it's trying to blow through it on the top end, but it's consistant. The guy helping me tune it says I need to put a 5000 stall in it and let it leave on the torque band more. I had a 5000 in it before and it was 2 little no.'s slower, he's the faith air guy, he put his plate under my carb and tuned it, it went from 5.64 to 5.50,1.23 to 1.16 60 ft and picked up 3 mph, so i guess i should pay more attention to him :D

Yeah I believe I would have to listen to him a little bit after that improvement. I looked at using 4.11 gears when I built my current car to help make the car MPH higher. I talked to the folks at Coan & they didn't recommend it with a door car. They said it would be fine in a dragster but the extra weight of a door car would dog the converter on the gear change. So I just went back with the same 4.29 gear that I had in my 67. Dan you have got a great 60' time. My best is a 1.17. But I ran 5.38-5.39 with that 60' time. Most of the time I am 1.19-1.20 & usually run 5.40-5.41 @ 128-129mph. I run a Coan 9" 5700 stall converter. I would like to try a 4.56 & see if I could get the rpms up to 7000 in the 1/8 & see what it would do for my ET's. Just an expensive proposition to go out & try. Anyway, look forward to meeting you & your bad bird next month. :D

Chris, I'm not sure what my car will do in the 1/4, I was at bowling green late last year at a T&T and the 1/4 mile clocks were on, I went 5.58 at 123 (spinning ) let off at the 1/8 and coasted threw at 9.41 at 102. I'd like to think maybe 8.60's with right gear ,at 150 to 160 range ? Does that sound about right ?It only went 1.23 60ft on that pass, I wanted to stay in it longer ,but it wasn't sticking on topend either, so I let out of it.We don't run 1/4 around here, so I'm not very educated on it.I had my 477 in it and went 6.14 @ 115 and 9.71 @139 bumping a 7000 chip for the last 100 ft or so . I was actually suprised by the 9.41 coasting :D

I would say 8.60's would be a very good guess. :D

Went out this last weekend. The car seems to be very consistant. First pass the track was still coming around it went 5.852 ET @ 114.05, 2nd pass 5.833 ET @114.30. First round with a 5.82 Dial-in went 5.829 ET @ 114.23, had a 0.011 package and lost, bummer. 2nd round still with the 5.82 dial-in, had a 5.821 ET @ 114.05, had a 0.006 package and lost again! Can't a guy get a break? They let me do another time run between rounds so I did a big John Force burn-out, 5.789 ET @ 114.52. Just had to try for that 5.70 run. :D

Nice runs!

Hard to believe that you lost twice with those kind of numbers

You'll get 'em next time

My Gosh, a .006 light and the dial with a 1........and lose. That is some hard luck. Anywhere in the country and you are making money with those numbers. Good luck next time, maybe the draw will be better and you can at least get a check for the effort.

That cam looks like a torque monster. Does it pull like a freight train out of the hole?

You'll go some rounds here with that, but likely go home with empty pockets, gotta be on your game in these neck of the woods........

Car sounds like an animal, wish mine was that light.

We just got the car back together and it went 1.28 60ft 5.76@121 and 9.06@148. This is in a 2600lbs 77 Mustang II
