Pushrods and Guideplates

Hey guys, gotta quick ques.

Just ordered a set of Procomp 3051 heads w/ 7/16 studs and guideplates, just wandering what type of pushrods you all might recommend? Hardened, 3/8, 5/16? My deck is stock, my cam is a VooDoo 61602 so I think stock length will be fine. I've heard that when guideplates are used that hardened pushrods are required? Just want to be sure. Thanks guys! It might have been a good idea to have asked the Pro Comp salesman you bought the heads from. See whatever he recommends.

Trick Flow is making some nice pushrods at good prices these days, but like everyone else they're backordered on a bunch of stuff right now.

5/16" rods are best for hydrualics and limited rpms. 3/8" is better for solid cams and/or higher rpms. Any time guideplates are used, you'll need them to be hardended.

As for length, there are just too many variables. Deck hieght, head design, rocker design, valve length, etc. Get a pushrod length checker and order the size that works best.

Whatever you decide to do, just make sure the pushrods are the right length and the valvetrain geometry is right, or you will be sorry.
