It's a good swap. I've done it on a 66 Mustang. The 69 is even easier.

I did my 70 Torino.

Easy swap. Make sure you get the proprtioning valve and the frame clips that hold the hoses

74 Manual mastercylinder works on the torino. Should be great for a stang too. NAPA sells em new.

Use the Granada tierod ends

I'll be doing this swap soon myself. I have also heard you can use some of the Explorer disks for the rear brakes.

I know a lot of them are 5 lug, even some of the 6 cylinder cars were. Just figured they were similar to the granada, but thought I would check first.

Thanks,
Tom

Yes - donors can be Mav, Comet, Monarch, Granada, 74 to 79. use the tie rod ends from the donor. Both cars here have it, Falcon disks came from a 75 Comet V8 car, Mustang's disks came from a 76 Mav 6 cylinder. Any manual MC 7/8" to about 1" bore disk/drum should work. Mid 80's Rangers with manual disks may give up aluminum models but the ports will be engine side. The 76 Mav iron cylinder has the ports on the fender side.

Make sure you have a manual pedal assy in the car. If it was a power brake car, you'll need a different pedal or you can't stop the car - the ratio is too small.

Explorer disks will swap on the rear - haven't done that, but beware of the relation between the front "Granada" single piston calipers and any calipers placed on the rear. If the surface area on the rear pistons are big in relation to the fronts, you'll get overly aggressive rear braking.

Friend runs 2000 Crown Vic rear disks on his race Falcon, 9" with small ends.

Anyone done a weight comparison from drum to disc on the conversion. My race car stops fine with drums all round, wondering about weight?
