I read that some of yall dont run kickdowns. I think i'll do that, cuz i dont wanna spend $80 for a cable kickdown.
But my question is, will it still shift up and down automaticly? I know i'll have to manually shift down when I floor it. But what about when i stop? Will it shift back to 1st by itself? Thanks, Josh

It'll work just fine without the Kick down , you'll just have to downshift manually if ya want it to kick down when ya nail it,,

I agree - I have been driving my wagon for years without a kickdown hooked up.
I have also noticed on my wagon that it will shift down off the vacume modulator when I nail it really hard.

When it is in drive and you stop at a light - it will take off in first and shift through the gears. When you are cruising and slow way down but do not stop, it SHOULD downshift into second if the vacume goes low enough to the modulator. This might have something to do with the valvebody / shiftkit that you are running.
With the torque of a well build 460 (of whatever CIs you choose) typically you won't have ANY problems taking off from near zero MPH in 2nd gear. My wagon shifts out of 1st around 7 mph when I am not nailing it.

According to my Transmission Builder you should run a kick down cable for best performance and longer service life. At WOT it applies full pressure to the servo.
I just picked up a cable set on Ebay for $37.00. It looks just like the Lokar. See ebaymotors Item 330165419732
