Well Casey,
This is the way it was explained to me.. Your only going to achieve so much by engine set back.. It will make working on your car harder..

Ok.. I use a QA1 setup but I say check out UPR..

I had to dimple my firewall for the bell housing bolts at the top.. and cut a chunk of floorboard for header placement.. Most of your swap headers are built around stock placement so beware if ya start moving stuff.. even steering linkage is effected..

Last but not least.. if the car has ever been in a front end accident then with any K-member ya can have install headachs.. Check the frame rails real good for damage..

Best of luck and watch some of my videos for tips and pictures!

I used a pa racing k member with a custom 2.5 drop, with motorplate. Pa racing will build them almost any way you want.

Have AJE in my 79 coupe you have to use adapter mounts or use a motor plate. Really nice thing about Aje and PA is the fit you shouldn't have to dimple your headers. I've got Hooker super comps for the Fox body swap and they come all the way over to the strut tower.

drop members dont drop the mounts unless you are using plates!

i second pa or racecraft inc. both units are identical one of these guys makes it for the other guy i actually have a racecraft one my buddy has a pa products and you can't tell the 2 apart i think the lowest you can go is what i have and thats 1&1/2 inches dropped rack for the bigblock from racecraft anyway . skinnykid racecars makes a real nice engine plate mounting kit also. as far as setting the motor back as far as possible i welded the nuts on my mid plates and used very short bolts and they bottom out right against the firewall you will have to cut acces holes in your trans tunnel to get at the upper bellhousing bolts from inside the car under the dash if you decide to go back that far.

this statement would be correct alot of people don't realize this. the dropped k frame is designed around utilizing motor plates so you can also fit a deeper oil pan on also.

If anyone checked the prices of any Skinney Kid plates.. well it's expensive.. Why, I don't know.. But the engine will only go so far back.. there is a dog leg in the frame rail.. If ya are crafty and want to get around the rules in a fox chassis.. Find a 1997 4.6 car and cut out the trans tunnel.. Graft it into the fox.. This will give you more rearward trans clearance.. If welded correctly ya can get around the rules for a modded firewall..

MY vote is for my buds at D&D Specialties.. they have been in the program forever! Link: http://www.mspmall.com/ddautospec/swapkits.html

Is the D&D motor plates offset crank or center? I saw where skinny kid offers both.

I welded the nuts on the brackets that mount to the frame and not the mid plate.. Funny how we came up with a similar idea..

I just got the install from D&D.. Life is confusing enough without shoving the engine to one side.. :D

thats actually exactly what i did, i meant the brackets for the mid plate not the actual mid plate itself. i think the offset kit from skinny kid was like 300.00 it also came with a torque brace and all nice laser cut brackets that bolt right up to your block. i didn't think it was pricy? i also got a spacer bushing kit for the danny bee drive with it also. they really did a nice job putting this package together has everything you need very well thought out.
