Bob are you going to weld on the 9" axle bearing stubs? If your gonna use the c-clip eliminator Mosure had some issues.. What ever axle ya choose make sure the spline is the same as the center section.. not just teeth count but pitch as well.. just some food for thought..

Spend a lil time here.. check the tech link on this page..

I use Moser I like the fact that when Greg Moser was alive he Ran his own axles in his Prostocker and stood behind his product fully. I talked to MW and ask about contengency and he said unless you run his product from one end to the other he didn't pay. He says the reason he cuts his on some other angle is so you have to buy his stuff when you get his parts cuz they won't fit with any others splines.

This is BS to me so I bought Moser and Strange.

I wouldn't use MW if he payed me too kind of like BG pretty self centered

I got a 8.8 w/ 9" ends very clean set up .Everyone sells brakes for them .Also stepped up to 35 splined axles.

Randy, I thought that MW uses a different spline angle because they feel it is a stronger set up. As far as contingency money goes MW pays for axles, disc brakes, & driveshaft. Now in order to get paid for the driveshaft you must have a MW trans yoke & MW pinion yoke. Also will a Moser 35 spline axle fit a Strange 35 spline spool? I know MW offers a spool to fit Henry(going way back) axles. So evidently people have been using different spline designs before. I know that some axle manufacturers make gang run production on axles with long splines so they fit a bunch of axle housing lengths & then you cut to fit. My buddy had to do that. MW's makes theirs per order. Also MW's spools have the splines further outboard for added strength. Plus it allows the axle to be shorter. Anyway I like MW's products but the others are fine too. I am just trying to get you fired up.  :D

Chris you ain't gonna get it done LOL, when I talked to MW his drive shaft was almost twice what Strange was and he told me unless I bought all his stuff he doesn't pay :x , so I went Strange and Moser. I talked to Greg and he was a nice guyand stood behind his product especially when he raced it in his Prostocker. so I figured if he would put his life on it I think it is good...

Moser has all their axles forged in the US and do all their work in house. in the next few years I will be trying to run 7's and will let you know if I ever break any...

Setting aside peoples personal experiances/opinions of any past bad dealings with the different companies (MW & Strange customer relations/Moser quality control) the 45* pressure angle spline is the best/strongest all around spline tooth design for drag racing's high impact environment from a mechanical standpoint.

A 45* pressure angle spline is the best overall compromise of a spline tooth's height to it's width for rotational side loading. Less than 45* pressure angle (such as the industry standard 30* "Dana spline" for 35 & 40 spline axles) increases the chance of possible spline tooth "base/root" failure (break/shear) because of increased side loading at the top/peak of the spline tooth. Using a spline pressure angle greater than 45* (50, 55, 60 etc, etc) would give you a stronger spline base/root, but the reduced tooth height increases the possible chance of running/rolling over the top of the spline tooth.

All three mentioned axle companies might not use the exact same manufacturing processes (spline designs, metal alloys used, type/style/amount of heat treating) but all are usable & have there place depending on your combo.

if you order from moser tell the what spline count you need and what brand of spool you have and you wont have any problems. there is alot of cars in my area runnig moser stuff and i personally have never had a problem with them but i did break a strange axle one time. plus if you get 35 spline or bigger moser will warrenty them for 10 years cant beat that
