Here are some pics of our new Hutch trans. http://www.hutchtrans.com/
It's got all the good stuff and trick treatments. Don't ask what it cost!
If this puppy doesn't work we quit!

The Reid 1 piece flexplate's center is sized for the GM converter pilot so no crank bushing or separate adapter is required.

Nice looking trans Brock. When are you going to give it's first pass? Also he case says Reid. Is that Dennis Reid of Dedenbear? When did he come out with a two piece case?

Do you know what the weight of the flywheel is? Is it made to work with a rear engine plate?
Thanks,

Hi Chris,

We won't get to run the trans 'till next season. We have decided to buy a Neil Chance bolt together converter and that will set us back another 2k once it's all said and done. It's too bad we won't get back out because the weather here has been absolutely fantastic, the best ever. If this is global warming, bring it on! It's rained only four times so far this month and less than a 1/2" total. The temperatures are in the mid seventies and it's been sunny most of the time.

If you click on the transmission case link at the Dedenbear website it takes you to the Reid website. I'm not sure what the relationship is. The case is out of California and is a very nice piece. I first read about the two piece case about 6 or 8 months ago. I figured if we ever went to a glide that's what we'd want.

We really didn't want to go to a two speed tranny but since we could not get our API 350VR4 to be consistent we had to make a change. It's unfortunate because the 350VR4 is holding up very well mechanically even though it runs hot. We found that the trans brake released quicker each run which resulted in a lot of red lights. The data logger we installed this year gave us the info we needed to find out what was going on. If we had the time to sort out the 350VR4 it I'm sure it could be a great transmission.

I did not weigh the flexplate yet but I will do that and post the result.

Since we haven't bolted the transmission to our motor yet I don't know what the fit will be like. We run a 1/4" mid plate so once we do get it bolted together I'll post the results.

Very nice!

I am considering going to a glide in my Falcon and that is what I am going to run. I saw the two piece Dedenbear/Reed prototype at PRI two years ago and said to myself, that’s quality, that’s what I want!

As a point of information I was talking with ATI last week about the new superglide 3 and they are also coming out with a new two piece case for high HP cars instead of the three piece adaptor ring system they use now. ATI is trying to talk me in to leasing the new glide to the tune of $7500 (trans and converter) with a $695 annual freshening cost for 5 years with the option to buy for $1 at the end of the lease.

I don't feel so bad about the price now. With converter we're within a couple of hundred bucks. There's no doubt these new two piece cases are the way to go for non GM engines. The case has a machined land to properly align the bell housing. It's not just supported by the pump bolts like the JW design. You can take the pump out without removing the bell. Also, since the case is SFI there's no need for a separate shield or blanket which should allow it to dissipate heat better.
