Can you weld on cast aluminum valve covers (e.g. aluminum AN bungs, oil filler caps) or is that the sole reason people pony up for the fabbed covers? I can't see spending twice the price if I can get a set of cast covers and get the fittings I need welded on.
Thanks,
Jason

Real cheap cast aluminum might have a lot of impurities in it which might cause a problem during welding but other wise a good welder with a decent tig machine should be able to weld it for you.

We have tig welded weld on filler caps and AN fittings on my old Ford Motorsport valve covers. The guy who did the welding was surprised how well they welded.
