Tire Issue

Took my car out for a short drive to pick up a couple of tools. On the way back home one rear tire went down quickly at a traffic light.
The tire had a razor blade in it at an angle where the blade cut about .4 inches of cord. The cut was 2 inches from the side wall. A good tire store patched it with a reinforced patch material. the slit was open and I aired the tire out and glued it together with rubber cement.

The tire is a Hoosier QTP and I take this up to 118 mph at the track. Right now no tubes. This tire has 70% life left.

Should I
A. Junk the tire.
B. Put tubes in the tires.
C. Go ahead and run it as is.

Thanks,
Dave

Been there done that, took the car for a spin around the block one time and put a nice 2" slit in one tire (ET street). I replaced both tires and never went around the block again. You might use it to put around on but I would not chance making a run with it. It might be fine, it might not, if not it aint gonna be pretty.

IMO have a tire store put a Boot in it just as we would an AG tire then tube it.

The price of a new tire is nothing compared to bending your ride or injuring some one. What better reason do you need to try a different tire. I used to run QTP and switched to M/T drag radials . Finaly got the car to hook and the ride is alot smoother on top end.
