Okay guys, we have the date and event nailed down. We are working in conjunction with the Ford vs. Mopar event in Pueblo, CO. The event flyer isn't done yet, but I will post one when it becomes available. I'm working on setting up a buffet at a local restuarant, and will update the post above with details as they become available.

If you have any suggestions or ideas in regard to the event, please feel free to comment or give me a call.

Thanks,
Carl

Rocky Mountain Throwdown! Dare I say "West Coast Bash?" It's pretty close to the left coast, and we don't have a West Coast Bash yet.

Gotta love the 385 Series Ford gaining momentum all around the country! :D

Standard NHRA tech. Nobody wants to be killed by the guy in the other lane.

Hmm ! looks like bandimere is having the stupid chevy shoot out Soo. I'll think about it. It's kind of rough for me in my car and would have to mostly run the left lane since the right lane shut down merges to the left lane.

Looks like I will be doing my racing on the street. The ragtop will never pass a NHRA test.eventually it will(more work!), but will be there. My grandson lives in colorado springs, is a pipe fitter constructing a wind generator manufacturing plant in Pueblo. He loves Fords too! Wonder where he learned that??

Talked to the promoter of the Ford vs. Mopar event, and it has been cancelled.

As details of a new date and/or location become available, I'll post them up.

That's tempting Bob. I've heard you have some monster Pike hiding in the lakes up there. Guess they grow pretty big when the lakes are only ice free 30 days a year.

Seriously though, I'm working on finding something else.

Talked to the track today. The original promoter is out. They're trying to find sponsors (local Ford and Chrysler dealers, etc.) to cover the base costs so that they can put the event on themselves.

To be clear......the BBF Rocky Mountain Showdown is not cancelled. It will be taking place late summer / early fall.

They've told everyone that they will have more info in April. There are other events we can coordinate with but the Ford vs. Mopar seems like a natural, so I'm hoping to work that out.

Any updates on this Carl? ... or is there not enough interest? Bob and I could always just head that direction to hang out a couple days and we could all shoot the ****... drop off some cores and make some plans for the future.

Well, it's been on again-off again with the Ford vs. Mopar deal. I'm going to talk to the track manager this week.

Worst case, we can just show up for the Friday night drags then do a cruise with a buffet at the end on Saturday.

I'll let you guys know.

Thanks Carl... My thought is worst case, I will be dropping off some cores. You haven't heard much from me lately, but when you do it will be for real stuff that I can afford to pay cash for. Closer to the original mid-late August works best for me, but I am somewhat flexable.

As far as the competitive stuff... there is always someone who has more money and faster than me. If I could sit and have a few cold beverages with Carl and Bob and some fried chicken with Rob... life is good.

Okay guys, I talked to the track manager today. The Ford vs. Mopar event is on! August 22nd and 23rd. Friday night drags will also be available on the 21st but will not be included in the Ford vs. Mopar entry fee.

I'm not sure at this point if the race promoter is going to be doing prize money or trophies. I suggested trophies to keep the entry fee down, and a gamblers race for those that want to have a chance at winning some prize money.

As originally planned, I would like to do an off-site get together/buffet just for our BBF guys. It's looking like the track is doing a BBQ on Sat night, so we should try to schedule around that. I think something before the event would be best so everyone can meet before the racing gets going. This could be Friday night for fish-n-chips & beer, or Saturday morning eggs, pancakes and sausage. Let me know what you guys want to do, and I'll make it happen.

I will post a copy of the flyer as soon as it's available, but for now the tentative schedule includes:

Friday the 21st: PMP Friday night drags. All makes and models. (not included in Ford vs. Mopar entry fee)

FORD vs. MOPAR EVENT

-Saturday the 22nd: Fords vs. Fords and Mopars vs. Mopars only. This will be an opportunity to run against each other and do some tuning.
-Saturday the 22nd, ~6:00pm: BBQ at the track for all participants.

-Sunday the 23rd: The main event....Fords vs. Mopars.
