chilly 03-19-2009, 12:57 AM Hopefully folks can excuse the slight breach of etiquette, as this is still an FE powered car.
Looks pretty nice I guess...but there are a few issues.

chilly 03-19-2009, 01:27 AM Sadly, I've been completely slackass on this thing for the past year plus. Trying to get motivated to finish it. I've done most of the "hard" work, all underbody is wire wheeled and painted. Frontend was rebuilt, engine is in, engine bay is detailed. Now really the only "tricky" bit is cutting the floor for the shift hump...the rest is basically just reassembly.
I'm taking Friday off to start getting this thing back together, hope to get more pics then.
56tbird 03-19-2009, 01:44 AM That's a cool ride no matter what engine you've got in it,especially with the stick!! Bitchin Ride:cool::cool::D
chilly 03-19-2009, 08:02 AM Thanks, Dan. I just like the big ugly early '60s stuff. I already had the 390, and at the time I was figuring out the build I had other projects in flight, so I stayed with the FE. It's a decent little motor, Edelbrock topend with some minor porting, 224* .519" cam and some Tri Y's. A near stock 460 with cam and intake would probably pee all over it but it was cheap and easy to keep it in "stock" configuration and not have to put together additional tranny swap stuff.
purecountry 03-19-2009, 08:12 AM Hey chilly Ive got a nice 78 ford f-150 that has your name all over for that car. I love those cars, and have wanted one forever. Nice car man, beautiful
'65 T-BOLT 03-21-2009, 02:24 PM Chilly! Iuse to have a 63 marauder 2 dr htp. It was a factory 390/330hp solid cam, automatic. It was wrecked in the passenger side front, needed fender, bumper and grill. Like a dumbass I sold it for next to nothing. That was in 1988, I could not find parts. You Have yours looking great ! Get your butt outside and work on it!
spoiler 03-21-2009, 03:13 PM way cool love them mercs. a guy in town has a 63 merc with a 410 4-spd,its black with magnum 500 wheels.
cletus66 03-22-2009, 08:11 AM It was in decent shape but required new 1st,2nd,3rd and a rebuild, as expected
Now that's funny right there. :D
Sounds like the Tremec in my Galaxie. "Yeah all it needs is 3rd gear synchros." 900 dollars later.............
The Merc is lookin' real good Chilly. :)
TravisRice 03-22-2009, 08:41 AM Chris, I've been waiting on an update on this car. I especially like the 63 mercs. You got any pics of the tan 63 with the teardrop and torque thrust from South Mountian ?? Thats the car that got me hooked on the early 60's stuff. If you find some motivation how bout sending some my way. I have motivation for everyone elses stuff but my own.
Travis
cletus66 03-22-2009, 09:33 AM I know how both of y'all feel. My first car ,66 Galaxie, has been torn apart for over 10 years. :( I keep getting distracted..........
chilly 03-30-2009, 06:14 AM Travis, sorry but I checked all my digital pics and I don't have one of that '63. I didn't make Carlisle last year, so I'm not sure if he still goes up there? I agree, that car just has the right look. I pretty much copied his deal when setting up the suspension on my car, bb springs up front with the aluminum topend FE and glass hood let it sit pretty high. Cook gave me some old spring packs from his '63 and I added a leaf to the rear to help the saggy original springs, sits nice and high somewhat like an old stocker would from that era.
This weekend I finally got around to tearing out the fubar'd brake lines and rebending. I hate bending lines, or should say "hated", so let a buddy do some of it. Let's just say it was less then great. Got a new better bender and got it straightened out, now bending lines isn't such a chore now that I have a decent bender. Got alternator and power steering on the car, including blasting and painting the brackets. Got the oil filter adapter on it, doesn't sound like much but the search for the damn gasket took half a day down here with the horrible autoparts places. Hung the rear bumper and got it all square/level. Buffed out the decklid trim and popped that on to get some more shiny stuff on the car. I'm re-motivated now, felt good to make some progress.
RapidRuss 03-30-2009, 06:57 AM Looks Real Good Chris !!! Yeah I think you could by those Mercs back then in any color as long as it was white, Red, or Black !! LOL.. Great Job ! (Me Likey)
