Hi guys I have a 73 coupe im building right now with a 460. Im looking for some rims and didnt know if any one knew off hand how much back spacing and size I can go with.

I will start posting some pics soon.
So far ported to SCJ intake and exhaust gaskets, coated hooker super comps, 2 " primaries and 3.5 collector. pypes m-80 mufflers, cam and off tunnel ram with single 850 holly. Backed by a C-6 2500 stall and shift kit. Im sure I left a few things out. Will up date soon.

While putting together a '73 Grande (472), I researched this at some length and finally settled on the 16X8 inch Vintage 45s with 4 1/2 inches of backspacing. I coupled these with 245/50R16 tires and have absolutely no issues.

I understand you can easily go with 255/50R16 outback with 225/50 in the front for a period looking "staggered" look.

Everything that I read pointed to the 16-inch wheel (with the 8 inch diameter) as being the perfect diameter for the 67 -73 mustang as it relates to looks and ease of fitment. It is my ubnderstanding that these dimensions would apply to almost any after market style of wheels.

Hope this helps!

rickyracer,

I think you might have bought headers off my cousin. If you did i think he has Weld 15X8 Draglites with 5 1/2" backspacing rims on his 73 Mustang with 28X12.5X15" Mickey Thompson ET Street tires.

Later Mark.

Yes I was the guy that bough the heades. They look nice and should help it move along a little better. Thank you for the hook up! I should have the motor in this weekend cant wait to hear it. Would you know anyone with a set of rims for sale?

Will rims from the 99-and up mustangs fit?

No problem for the hookup on the headers,if the 99 Mustang is the same bolt pattern as the 94-95 Mustangs i think they're the same as the 73 Mustang.I could be wrong though maybe somebody else will reply with a answer.

HI ricky, I used 15x10's with 5 1/2" BS on mine. A 28X10.5 slick will fit with no problem. Post some pics soon. :)

rickyracer; the best way to see what or one way to check for tire size is to suport the rear end and pull the tires of take a yard stick and lay it on wheel mounting surface and measure out and back to the tightestspot to get aruf idea on height and width do your math now don't pay twice later
