Not sure your budget but you can probally get a good set of headers for 5-600 and a good straight through (one you can see through) muffler like glass packs would help open it up and give it a good sound

my budget for the truck is $8,000 money goes quick if not done right the first time .i was going to use the truck to plowsnow, the motor sound good ,plenty of torque. thats my winter office 10hrs a day ,so yea i want good tone, last truck i used really pissed me off and wasted money ,took it in had it done front to back leaks everwhere, nothing but tick tick tick .so when i took it back to the shop that did the work the owner " told me to turn up the radio" they still did not fix it right ,o2 sensor to far down steam so its lazy and runs rich. found a new guy to get pipework done said he fix it ,so ill look around see what i can find for the old ford ,any brands i should stay away from? still need to pull the motor out, needs paint job. Frame craked where plow mounts ,so were goin to pull off the front end ,cab and bed sand blast frame get it lookin good again

I've got a 79 f250 flat bed. These things are easy to work on and considering its a flatbed, there is very little body work to do.

I currently have it dissassembled. cab and all forward sheetmetal is gone. Engine is ready to come out.
