johnnywalker 07-28-2009, 03:23 PM on the bottle it says that it will raze the octane by 3 point . does that mean that it will raze the octane in 92 unleaded to 95 octane ? and if you add two bottles of octane booster will it double the octane points to 98 octane ? i just wanted to know if anybody new how this stuff works ? thanks!!
paulie 07-28-2009, 03:29 PM I have tryed this stuff in the past and found it really dosen't work well. if you really need higher octane, just spring for some race gas.
Declawed69 07-28-2009, 03:33 PM I believe 3 points is going from 92 to 92.3, also with some it's effect can decrease with the more you use. Easier to mix a couple gallons of 100 or higher octane.
johnnywalker 07-28-2009, 03:45 PM yah, i thought is sounded to easy . that's why i was asking because i do not know how the stuff works and i alway had that question in the back of my mind . i guess if it was that easy everbody would be doing it .
beltfeed 07-28-2009, 04:15 PM 1 point is 1 full point. That means 92 to 93 is 1 point. 92 to 92.1 is 1 tenth of a point. This stuff works pretty good http://www.kemcooil.com/product_info.php?pId=130 it has real tetraethyl lead. If it's not for highway use it's the right stuff to use on the highway!

it MIGHT e an urban myth, but i also heard that 1 point is actually only .1 so if u use the stuff that gains 2 points on 91 gas it would increase it to 91.2

The crap you get in most parts stores containing MTBE raised octane but by tenths of a point not full points...
:D
johnnywalker 07-28-2009, 05:14 PM that kemcooil web page says it will turn 92 pump gas in to 101 octane . thats with 8 ounces per gallon .
ndmus88gteng 07-28-2009, 05:36 PM that kemcooil web page says it will turn 92 pump gas in to 101 octane . thats with 8 ounces per tank . $125 for a case is not bad with free shipping . my have to give it a try .
yea I looked at the site, it's got great claims, but I would be suspect of its claims, if the guru's on this site, don't think it worthy, I wouldn't bet on it, its been around a long time ,looks like. but the guy's building furd bb's , have been around for a long time as well.

If you read closely it states there product will raise 92 to 101 with (8 OUNCES PER GALLON).
None of these additives make a fuel into real racing fuel But the Kemco works pretty good for the street strip car with a detonation problem. The lead also helps with exhaust valve life with soft seat heads. If you have a motor designed for 100 octane fuel you will surely make more power and see better motor life with real 100 octane race fuel.

Does this mean 10 dollars is really 1 dollar ?

beltfeed 07-28-2009, 08:16 PM You may want to look at this stuff. Torco is known for quality products. But I don't know about this accelerator as they call it.

Mods: if you could move this thread to General tech that would be nice.
falcon8r 07-28-2009, 10:56 PM I know it's been beat up before. I buy 100LL Avgas at our muni port. It is $ 4.00 a gallon and the pump is a open cardlock. They frown on direct car filling as the road tax thing. I have a 15 gal tank on rollers that came from a parts store . So 15 gallons 100ll is $60., one of the most stable fuels you can buy. My engine seems to run better with this mixed in. The seat of the pants meter says YES. I know my little nitrous jets think so. Tres...
tonyj202b 07-28-2009, 11:40 PM I too have used av gas in a small block we used to have mixed it 75av -25 pump93 and it liked it.

Since the price of Sunoco race fuel skyrocketed I've been using the Torco product in my Boss 429.
Not raced, but street driven and sometimes perhaps with too much spirit.
Engine has 11:1 comp and seems to run fine with this product mixed 1 can per 10 gal.
Which adds $1.70 per gal to the price of 93 octane.According to Torco this gives you 104 octane. And,it's about 1/2 the price of Sunoco .
