Way to go Larry on the first thread!!:D

I always try and keep mine down around 5-6 just to ensure no flooding. I think 8lbs might be getting close to blowing the needle off the seat.

they make a regulator that cant be trusted. no joke.
one of my buddies had one. it would start at 7 and end up at 13 at the end of the pull
makes it tough to read your plugs

I also run 7.5 to 8 psi to the carb.

We recommend 7.5 as a baseline on our carbs. Some guys will run 8 but you have to be careful as it may start to affect the needle and seats.

I built Larry's engine and it's my carb. I set it up so it doesn't lean out above 5500, this carb seems to do this below 8 psi of pressure. It's done it on the other engines it was bolted on. Don't particularily like Demon carbs, it's all we had at the time!

Don't particularily like Demon carbs, it's all we had at the time! Carburetor may be on the large side for the motor depending on whether it is a down leg or an annular. Our down leg 850 will flow close to 1000 cfm and needs 500 cubic inches or larger to support it. If it is a down leg trying a 1 inch 4 hole spacer can help but it may need a smaller hsab in it to pull fuel at the higher rpm's.

If an 850 flows 1000, what does a 1000 flow?

I know the carb is more than the engine needs but, like I said , it's all we had at the time. When you race with no money ( budget), this sometimes happens!
