Russ Cale Aronson 08-13-2009, 12:55 PM Awesome Russ.... What kind of times are you turning? Any info on the power plant, trans, etc..? One little thing I would tell you to do is this.... I see a catch can of some sort in the inner fenderwell on the pass side. I always make sure my customers do one of two things when putting catch cans on a car. Put the catch can in the middle of the car, or run a line all the way to the rear behind the slicks... just a safety thing. Looks good.... Give us some info on it! I do run a catch can line to the back of the car behind the slicks. Cale Aronson 08-13-2009, 01:10 PM I would say if it has a valve in the bottom... to move it. If not... no biggy.... Taking my time and doing it right. Gary hillbillyerv 08-13-2009, 08:39 PM That`s a sweeet ride nice times to :) DJStang 08-19-2009, 08:05 PM Nice Car Russ. I was always partial to the Mustang II body style, dating back to being a kid and liking Dyno Don's. I have one that my family put together in the early 90's. We raced it for a little while, then put it on hold after my father passed away, and then I went through a divorce, so it sat on the back burner while I raised my kids. Finally put it back together last year and made two check-out passes before stuffing it in the wall up at the old South Mountain Dragway in PA. Relocated to South Florida last month and so my racing is still on hold a little longer, but I still have the car. Looking to do something with it next year. DJ big blue oval 08-19-2009, 08:32 PM LOOKS GOOD....i'm kinda partial to black cars anyway... Moodyblues 08-19-2009, 08:42 PM Nice Car Russ. Is that twin toilets on that engine? What cubes is it and what et/mph does it run. Hope you get it back together soon. Russ DJStang 08-21-2009, 07:50 PM Yeah, it has two 4" toilets on a worked over Weiand tunnelram. The motor I put in for the checkout passes is just a basic 466; flattops, truck rods, .600" flat tappet cam...real basic. The easy passes on that motor were 9.60's @ 142 MPH. The motor I built for it is a P-51 headed 557. It made well over 800 HP and 740 Ft/lb torque on gasoline and carberated on the break-in dyno passes at my brother's shop in Maryland. With the methanol fuel injection set-up on it I was looking to run some mid 8's in the car. The car is real light (2138 lbs without me in it), so mid 8's is definatley doable. It's a old Alston Pro Gas chassis car with ladder bars. So I have the 557 in my Mustang convertible now looking to run some of the DOT Drag radial classes. RAM Racing had a naturally aspirated racing series in the Mid-Atlantic region and I was thinking of running their 9.50 class with the convertible. They also have a local 9.50 class up in MD for steet cars so I was looking to run there as well. I ran the RAM Racing series a couple years with my other Mustang fastback in their 10.50 class. It has a basic 466 in it too, and with steel CJ heads ran a best of 10.48 @ 128 MPH. There's some picture of that car below. Thanks for the interest Russ. DJ 1BADBIRD 08-22-2009, 06:08 PM Nice ride , You got some serious meats underneath it . DJStang 08-24-2009, 11:08 AM Yeah, that is what I liked about his car. I had to seriously narrow the rear on mine to get the 15 x 33 M&H's up under it. The Mustnag II's are narrow cars to start with. So what size tires are under your car Russ?
