Did a search before making this post.

What procedure is best for breaking in a fresh engine? New bearings, rings, new cam and lifters, new carb etc?

Be easy on it for the first 500 miles, or?

Depends on whats inside your motor in the way of parts i guess. Ive got molly rings, forged pistons and a hydrolic cam. I was told to run the cam in at 2000 rpm for the first 20-30 minutes apon fire up. Then to break in the rings i need to get on the street and run the motor at full throttl from about 2000 rpm to 5500 rpm then let the motor decelerate and slow the vehicle then repeat about a dozen times to seat the rings. Supposedly decelerating is more importaint than accelerating lol. After all that, im good to run er however. I was told that runnin her easy will glaze the cilinder walls and my rings will not seat.

Knowing your parts list may help others give you better advice.

If you have a flat tappet cam be sure you use a good oil especially during breakin. In fact, I'd put an additive in for the cam/lifters breakin. Here's a site that talks about the Comp Cams additive & some info about breakin.

I do have a flat tappet hydraulic cam, factory rods, molly rings, hyper pistons. Wont be driving it on the road for a while, but want to break it in before then.

Then if I were you, you were me and I was you, Ide break er in just as i posted and be sure to use some cam break in additive in your oil. Break in the cam, change the oil, Go break in the rings, change the oil then your done. Thats my oppinion and how i do er.
