I have also purchused maddog headers. If you read the comments in the original post here are the pics of my install. 1976 f-150 with a 460.

Here is a pic of the steering shaft hitting the headers:

Here is a pic of the steering shaft I did to make the headers work. Its a bronze bushing mini carrier bearing(chrome piece).

Its basically a two peice steering shaft. I used two ford factory steering shafts. The u-joint piece that orignally connects to the steering column shaft also fit the steering box shaft. So I cut up two factory steering shafts and added in an aftermarket u-joint that I picked up at a local parts store. I then took a peice of flat bar mounted it to the frame. I mounted the flatbar to the rear motor mount bolts that go through the boxed portion of the frame. It now clears by 2"s. Also the brake lines have to be massaged out of the way. They also clear the headers by 2"s.

In the second pic that shows the mini carrier bearing its a bronze bushing greaseable(spl?) bushing. I did not want to use a poly/rubber bushing that close to a extreme heat source. It was $12. The factory steering shaft that measure a little over 3/4 OD that is also a soild steel piece. The bronze bushing is a 7/8" OD so I had to make a sleeve.

Here is also a pic of the clearence(damn I can't spl?) between the headers and the tire at full lock. This is the driver side header. Setup 9" coils 36" sx swampers with around 4" backspacing. I'm in the process of swaping in one tons and 44" boggers.

Nice to see I have an option OTHER than a body lift

If you want George I post up more detailed info on the steering shaft setup.

I do plan to have these coated. As far as the shock boot goes I give it a couple of weeks at the most.

I said fawk it! Dented my tube a small bit to clear my steering shaft. Now im going to get them ceramic coated. The part that pissed me off was that i had to cut my passenger coil bucket!

Just installed my maddog headers in a 1986 f-150 with big block. Pretty much same as everyone elses problems. The truck has a 2 inch body lift and the drivers side went right in with minor inner fender trimming had to trim the coil/shock bucket on the passanger side. All in all it went pretty easy and looked nice once they were installed.
