so far after about 20 passes
1.38 60ft
3.93 330
6.00 1/8 @117
9.39 1/4 @146
Getting the car to perform better first 1/3 of the track...would be nice
I go through at 6800, shift it at 7200 (powerglide) 5200-5400 converter leave at 4600
Car has a 3.73 gear now with a 28x10.0 tire. Would a 410 turn it to much, I am thinking it should go through at around 7500 with a 410? Being in high gear under a load I think it will be ok ?? Should help the 60ft and 330
81 Mercury capri
Engine is a 13.1, 521 with A-heads no port or gasket match work.
Most say cam is to big 277/298@50 779/814 lift, seems to be working
may have some work done to them this winter.

what is the weight of the car ??? i believe you are leaving alot on the table ......... my edelbrock headed motor runs 5.9 on motor with a bad gas pedal (1/2-3/4 throttle ):)...those a-heads should have a 2-3 tenths on me atleast !!!!

3100lbs, sry but was trying to figure out if a 410 gear change would help out. yeah I know there should be more....
Car still has the 4 cylinder springs and 10-15 year old shocks in the back..lol
All yeah with air bags, wanted 5.90s out of it before I put shocks and springs on it. Just my little challenge I can say it went in the 5s with STOCK stuff
point less I know but something to do...
Its a 9" from Lenny

60' is whats killing it, almosta appears there is wheelspin.
Thats a small tire to harness that much *** to, ask Blake lol.

I agree, the 60 foots for a car that fast are pretty weak, but bigger slicks would likely be needed. I`m assuming your Capri has the stock type rear suspension and wheel tubs etc. Is it strip only? The powerglide may allow those short tires to hook up, but also hurt the 60 foots. As for rear end gearing, what are you revving at the finish line? I always like to be around redline going thru the traps. Going to a lower rearend ratio may make the traction situation worse though. My Fairmont also weighs 3100 lbs, but is back halved with ladder bars, your Capri is much quicker & faster, but is almost 1 tenth slower to 60 feet.

Good night last night I got 5.98 and went 9.33 at 146.5
Think its time to up grade my suspension now getting a little crazy, but I did get it to go in the 5s in the 1/8 on 80s stuff...the only bad thing is when people come to see whats done to the car and are like thats it...huh,
Tell them it just Big Block Ford Power

Looking at ET and MPH only in the 1/8th and 1/4 mile.... I could compare the 1/4 mile to 2001-2002 NMRA Hot Street times. Your MPH is pretty spot on at the 1/4 for your ET, but what is surprising is your 1/8th mile ET. You are definately losing quite a bit of ET in the first 330'. An old NMRA Hot Street Car of that time would 60' around 1.25 so that is a tenth, and a tenth at the 60' will probably equal out to a couple tenths at the 1/4.

Nitro,
My numbers are very similar to yours.
1.42 60'
3.92 330'
Typically low 6.0's @ 117 in the 1/8 (3600 launch bracket mode) but has been 5.97 @119.5 (good air) 5600 launch (old 1.76 glide).
I usually shift at 6900 drops to 6K and it goes through the 1/8th at 6200. Haven't had a chance on the 1/4 mile yet.
85 GT 3250+ lbs. 572 A Heads 900hp/750+tq (DTS Dyno), 1.80 glide, Ultimate 6K stall, 3.73's, 29*10W sized DOT Hoosiers. Complete Team Z rear suspension, 150 lbs Afco front springs on Lakewood 90/10 front struts.
I feel that if I would launch it harder with the new glide it would probably go 5.90 flat with 2K of air. I'm probably going to switch to 4.10's as well as I know that I'm leaving tons on the table. My car has always been lazy out of the hole. I think with the power my engine makes it should easily run 5.80's or so but I haven't been able to get it there.
