coolant temperature increase during a run

How much should the coolant temp increase during a run with mechanical alcohol injection? Mine is increaseing between 10 and 15 degrees.

I've never run Alc. Mark, but thats about what my ole Maverick would raise w/14/1 on Gas. I would'nt think alcohol would climb that much:confused:

The car seems a little lazy after I shift. The last 2 runs last weekend it had a mis-fire right after I shifted and then finished really hard. I am shifting at 7000 and going thru the traps around 7500 @ 145 MPH.

I called and takled to one of the techs at Ron's fuel. He asked me a bunch of questions and then made a recomendation to lean it out a little and see if it helps with the lazy spot. He thinks my fuel mixture is rich, and I agree. The car picked up more than it should have when the weather got better (except for the last 2 runs with the mis-fire), and we have some black soot in the headers.

I try to pull onto the track around 160, when I stage its around 170 and at the finish line its around 180-185.

Way too lean if its making that much heat on a pass with injected alky.


What pump, nozzel and pill are you using?

its a black gear rotor pump size 0

nozzle size is 33

pill is a # 64

EGT is around 1200 max

408 cubic in engine
#2505 with driver
ran 9.27@145 last weekend


One guy says its boarder line lean and another guy says it rich.

What do you guys think

I agree with john that it sounds lean.I pick up 10degrees max. Do you think the the increase was car or combo of car and track conditions?

Carbed stuff will makew approx 5-10 degress of water temp when its close........1/4 mile mind you. I never had injection make any heat when it was close. IMO egt is a good reference once you get it right, but not a by God sure fire way to tune it.

the track conditions were good until the third round . we were 1.29 60' a few runs in a row. I have a 60 and a 62 pill. Safer to richen the mixture first I guess....

I tried to call James Monroe. I have a tough time getting a hold of him. I work 3rd shift and when he calls back I am usually sleeping. Going to try again tomorrow.
