What's the safest way 2 empty a battery so I could make it a fake battery while having the real one in the back of the car?

Dry Cell or Wet Cell? If it is sealed, you can flip it over, drill small holes in the bottom, drain out all of the fluid, then seal the small holes.... If you want to gut it, then simply do the same thing, but saw off the bottom of it, from the bottom side, and gut it!

I proply will use a die hard so that would be a wet cell correct? As optimas are dry ? No acid? Or I'm I totally wrong

Any of them that are sealed are "wet" cell. But I would follow that path either way to be on the safe side, and be sure to collect your acid into something it won't eat through and dispose of it in a proper way..... maybe like your neighbor's bird bath... J/K!

dont just empty that **** into the drain. theres battery rebuilders everywhere, see if you can get a pre emptied battery from them or have them do it to yours. most will do it for free to salvage the lead out of it. (I know i would)
you may have to thermalweld it back together, but they may do it too.

thanks for the replys, i'll try batterys plus, they are not to far from me. it really dont have to have a bottom i just need to retain the positive post so i can hook it up from the back side which would be hidden and run it to the back of the car, then the top side for that factory look without the weight.

You could do as we did "back in the day" and get a fake battery from a store that sells batts. Think they still have them, usually on a display board for advertisment. It looks just like a real battery only made of plastic with no bottom, just a hollow shell. Like some women I know.

My brother had one from Sears. It was a Die Hard & was a full case, but nothing inside. One day, I came by & he tossed it at me! Scared the crap outa me...

Don't mean to Jack your thread but it reminds me of when I was a teenager working at a Standard oil station one nite and was real busy. This kid comes in to use the restroom and when he leaves he grabs a fake battery and takes off running down the street. Bet he was pissed when he found out.:eek::D

I might be able to get you one of those fake batteries. i deal with a company that sells real batteries. they have have some for a display. it wont be a name brand (diehard or motorcraft or etc. but it will serve the purpose. if interested let me know. LOU
