i need to shorten my 2wd c6. does anyone know of a short tailshaft housing or anything similiar? i have heard of taking a 4wd c6 and putting a flat flange at the tailshaft to make it shorter.
the only problem is i have 2 2wd c6s that are in perfect condition, one is built by frank merkyl with the transbrake and full manual valve body. the other is just a manual valve body not sure whats been done to it. i hate to start over with another trans.

Some models of trucks had a real short one.
6" or there abouts.
It has a bolt on flange.

Thats the setup for a divorced transfer case, and it is the shortest version out there. I have one of those tailhousings yet, getting harder to find.

I have seen them in 2wd vehicles.
It has a 2 piece drive shaft with a steady bearing.
