Anyone run one of these? If not, which one should I? 521 with 13.2cr, distributer, maybe run Nitrious later, would like a rev limit on burnout, and at 7200 rpm.. I think thats all the options i need? What is the difference between the MSD AL's and the digitals? Thanks

You'll get a lot of different opinions, and if you're lucky someone will come in saying your motor is junk for asking this question.

I have zero experience with the summit boxes and would imagine they fall under "get what you pay for".

I've had or have a lot of experience with the 6AL, Digital 6, HyFire, and Hi-6 and without a doubt my favorite ignition box is the Crane Hi-6. You used to be able to get them with a lx92 coil for like $150 but that was when they first came out.

I don't like the old school MSD boxes simply because the modern boxes use a little light to signal when the box is getting 12v, pulses when getting signal, and overall helps if you have any ignition issues. I am in the process of tuning a 351w on the dyno at school and we had a bad coil and distributor that would have taken about 20 minutes of checking with a light on the side of the box vs a few hours of finding another coil, doing the MSD tests etc.

The limiter on burn-out is a 2-step which I don't believe any of the boxes have as is.

I think the Summit stuff is the same as Mallory. Just has the Summit name on it.

I agree. If you compare the features, you'll see they are exactly the same.

The MSD Digital 6 has a second RPM limiter that can be used as a burnout rpm limiter. Mine is hooked to my LineLoc button.

Why would you say that someone on here would come on saying my motor is junk for asking a question about ignition? Newbie here i guess?

Thanks for the help with the ignition.. So what is the difference between the AL and the Digitial? I don't know much about aftermarket igition systems.. so thanks for any help!!

If your going to run Nitrous in the future I'd use the Digital 6. It has a retard for such things as nitrous built in.

I'm running the HVC II #8253 coil, which has a very powerful spark for a streetable coil (450 mA) and is very good. The catalog also lists the Blaster HVC #8252, the TFI 5.0 replacement #8227 & the Blaster SS #8207 for the Digital 6. They are less powerful (300 mA) but still strong for street coils. You can also use the Blaster 2 or Blaster 3 series coil if you want a traditional round coil, although they don't have as much spark output (140 mA).
