Chris 01-11-2006, 12:05 PM Sweet! very similar to what im building except the tunnel ram
TopSportsman916 01-11-2006, 06:04 PM Good looking engine. I am in the process of getting my parts to build my 598. Only difference is I will be running A441 Hemi heads with dual Ron's Terminators on alky. Keep us posted on what it does at the track. Good luck! :D
gofastmerc 01-11-2006, 10:16 PM That thing looks awsome! And oh so close to 1000Hp. How long did you try for that 5hp??
588 Bantam 01-12-2006, 01:13 AM That's a great looking motor Doug. Very good numbers on the dyno. You must be pretty happy!
We're in the process of getting our A460/A460 setup together. A very similar setup to yours. Evans heads, Bryant billet crank and 15:1. We still have not decided on fuel setup yet, right now we're thinking Enderle Birdcatcher on the TFS tunnelram. The setup should put our Bantam well into the 7's.
Whose rocker covers are you running? They look like they have a 3/8" thick rail.
Doug Rahn 01-12-2006, 05:36 AM That thing looks awsome! And oh so close to 1000Hp. How long did you try for that 5hp??
We hit 995 on the 16th a final pull. We ran out of time and low on fuel. We wanted to try one of Charlie's plenum spacers but just didn't have the time. I will test one at the track though.
Doug Rahn 01-12-2006, 05:39 AM Whose rocker covers are you running? They look like they have a 3/8" thick rail.
Yes I am happy with the results! The covers were made by Jeff Johnston @ Billet Fabrications, and the oil pan as well.
TopSportsman916 01-12-2006, 07:48 AM Doug, why did you decide to run an external oil pump? The reason I am curious is that I am switching to a Billet Fabrications 2 piece oil pan & a Titan billet pro oil pump. I was rumnning a Canton full sump pan & stock type pump. My oil pressure would go to zero on decelleration after a run. But when my data logger showed the fluctuations through out the run, I had to make a change. Were you having some of the same problems also? I considered an external pump & dry sump set up but decided to go this way because I already had a wet sump vacuum pump & engine diaper . Here is a pic of my 557 CJhttp://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/11/web/611000-611999/611257_8.jpg

Several reasons. The Wet/Vac pump is two pumps in one, oil pump and vacuum pump. Some people have had problems with the distributors gear pin shearing off, which could be fixed by using a larger diameter pin. I didn't like that idea because I felt it would also weaken the distributor shaft. Finally the timing is a lot more stable, not jumping around when you put a light on it. Another thing the gear should last longer without the load of the oil pump on it.
84mustang 01-14-2006, 10:12 AM that is the exact motor im trying to build right now.everyone told me this motor would make close to a 1000hp and now i see they aint lying.

84mustang 01-29-2006, 10:46 AM doug i have a tfs tunnel ram on a 606 ci. cant get a distributor in it. what kind of dist. is that u got in yours? can you give me part numbers and where i can buy. nice looking motor. is your car a 10.5 car or big tire car. what kind of times are you expecting out of that big motor. i purchased an alum tall deck 606ci similar to your set up. it has tfs tunnel ram and motorsport a-460 heads. also are the motorsports as good as the tfs heads. i have a brand new set of tfs heads but if the motorsports are just as good im going to sell the tfs heads.
Filucky 01-29-2006, 11:36 AM The distributor is a MSD low profile deal that has to run the crank trigger, don't remember the part #, but just call summit and tell them what intake your running and the part number pops up on there computer. :D

I haven't given it much thought with out the spray. I have a Pro Race Fogger system that we didn't use on the Dyno, but it will be installed after I sort out the suspension setup. If I can make low 5's in the 1/8 I'll be happy. Im trying to keep the weight dowwn to 3000 or less.
TopSportsman916 02-15-2006, 05:37 PM Doug, with the 1000 HP you have, I don't see why you won't run 5.30 -5.40's@3000 lbs. You have got a damn stout combo. You didn't dyno with NOS so are you running a nitrous cam that makes 1000hp naturally aspirated? If that is the case, all I can say is hold on when you hit the spray!!! :D

It's not finished yet, but I am getting close. I am expecting it to run in the low 5's without the nitrous. With the nitrous, I guess that depends on how crazy I get.

Not yet! Between my job and only getting to work on it about 1 day a week it's taking longer than I thought. I did finally get my lexan windows though, very pricey  . Today I'm finishing up a fiberglass piece to replace the glass in the sunroof.
jrobbins 10-30-2007, 07:27 PM make sure you have good oil returns and a good pan, I have the same set up on a 598 c heads and have took out the rods 2 times due to no oil at the end of the track. Tough to see at 170MPH. I kept the peterson pump and had a new pan made from stefs and added a accusump just in case. will try again in the spring.
Nice motor
