It's not 460 powered, but I didn't think guys would mind.

Long story, my father bought the car online with me agreeing to pay for and perform all upgrades. Have some guys check the car out before purchasing. Get the car home, it's a mess...so much for having guys check the car out for you. I installed a decent 390 I had sitting around, blew the tranny twice...decide to go ahead and get bodywork done and convert to 4spd, along with disk brake conversion and general light restoration.

A good friend of mine does incredible work and is performing the body and paint work on the car, it's originally a red car so I'm returning it to a nice bright red. I picked up a new rf fender, door, and complete quarters are on the way...after peeling bondo the car is an absolute mess.

Anyway, on with the pics!!

Hmm, doesn't look too bad?

Alright...just let it this reinforce the lesson that pictures don't mean diddly when it comes to a car.

I can't even explain how cobbled this door was...outer skin is 1/2" thick with metal "repair"

Uh oh..

I'm dumping the A/C, expansion tank, and going manual brakes to unclutter the engine...also putting Merc pentroof valve covers on

Previous body man was a mudslinger, this panel doesn't need all this mud

Almost forgot the now "mandatory" teardrop hood. I'm going with a somewhat "nostalgia" theme on it, it will have a tall tire, tall stance look...somewhat '60s stocker

Greg Cook is goooood. I've seen his work on FordMuscle.com. I would send my Elite down there but I probably can't afford him!

Greg's shop rate is very reasonable, less then many of the bondo bandit insurance shops out there. The job may be a bit more expensive because he has a high volume of work in a job because it's done correctly with metal not bondo, car is taken down to metal, trim is removed, and there is a lot of blocking involved.

Chilly, i agree that you get what you pay for when it comes to body work. Even jack leg body men aren't really cheap. I had Barney Squires out of Locust Grove,VA paint my car. I love the Marauder. I had a 61 Meteor back in my high school days. Lack of funds ended the project. I didn't know you are right up the road from me. You can take I95 south to exit 41(Courtland,VA) & get on hwy. 35 south. It's a 65 mile straight shot to Woodland. Small world. Do you race at Dinwidde? I run there some but bracket race most of the time at Outer Banks. Keep the pics coming....

You're right...I paid $3500 to have a '93 Lightning painted about a year ago. It was decent, but I wanted something nicer for the Merc. Greg's shop rate is below what the other shop charged hourly...but he'll spend more time on eliminating sanding scratches and doing a wet sand that will make the difference.

You are pretty close. I moved here last year so I haven't been to Dinwiddie, I will make it out this year.

Hey Chilly you wouldnt have Contact info for Greg Cook would you? Ive been trying to get my 70 Torino painted and I havnt found anyone reasonable to trust and use. The Mec looks great by the way I love the years with the pointed nose insted of flat.
