Filucky 02-22-2006, 06:59 PM Just a quik question, if this motor made a little over 900 hp with a N2o cam and 9.3 cr, what if you had a N/A cam and say 11:1 cr would it be able to make close to 1000hp? From what i understand you leave some hp on the table when you run a N2o cam without the N2o on. Is this true? And i hope that you don't take this question the wrong way i was just wondering what the difference would be if it was not built for N2o. Motor sounds like its plenty now and with the N2o it will be a hand full. :D
the608 02-22-2006, 09:56 PM HI, IF ENGINE HAD 11.1 COMP AND AN ASPIRATED CAM ENGINE SHOULD MAKE BETWEEN 970 - 1000 HORSEPOWER.

May I begin by saying.....What an awsome combo !!!!
I hope this engine gives you all that you had hoped for.
Out of curiosity and for us fellow Aussies, is the above figure in USD or AUD?
How much extra in AUD was it for Freight and Customs Duty?
the608 03-02-2006, 06:45 AM HI, THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS ,THAT FIGURE WAS FOR USD.
FREIGHT IS COSTING ME AROUND $1400 AUS DOLLARS ONLY BECOUSE MY FRIENDS DAD IMPORTS MUSTANGS AND IS ABLE TO FIT IT IN A CONTAINER FOR ME, TRYING TO FREIGHT IT OVER WITH A FREIGHT COMPANY ON MY OWN I WAS GETTING QUOTES FOR $2500 - $3700, WICH JUST SUCKS ,SO I AM VERY LUCKY.

dfree383 03-09-2006, 03:23 PM Is it rated the same way US gas is? Just curious it seems like down under street builds are a little more raical?
the608 03-09-2006, 03:40 PM HI, WITH THE 100 OCTANE GAS WE CAN RUN UP TO 11.3 COMP WITH ALLOY HEADS ETC ETC , I AM PRETY SURE OUR 100 OICTANE IS YOUR 95 - 96 OCTANE.
WHAT IS THE HIGHEST COMP YOU GUYS CAN RUN ON PUMP GAS ?
THEO
dfree383 03-10-2006, 07:29 AM That depends on the engine. Heads, Coatings, Cam Timing, Etc. But most of us can usually only get a max of 93 (sometimes 94 sunoco) but mostly 91 so to be safe 10-10.5 is the max for a true street engine, But some guys try more with varying degrees of success. and the seasonal blends SUCK, They change the fuel by the season for emissions reasons !! other areas like California even ave it worse !!

Todd521 07-05-2006, 06:56 PM Looking good Theo, I can't wait to hear about when you give it a run.
I can highly recommend the RRS stuff, I'm using the strut front suspension and cut shock towers on my Fairlane, heaps of room for big pipes. Only problem is the rule makers at Australian Pro Street Association won't recognise it as a Modified Street or True Street car because it hasn't got standard front suspension, even though it is fully licensed and legal. I have to run in the Outlaw class along with other full chassis cars. I'd like to see how many of those cars get driven on the streets on a regular basis and can pass a full police licensing check.
Sorry about my little rant, a bit O/T. Anyway, keep up the good work.

Hi Theo,
It's good to hear that things are coming along. Great looking XA.
By cutting away the towers as you have, is this required for the RRS strut ends (I have no idea what they look like, so forgive my ignorance), or are you keeping all the stock stuff and just making a little extra room by "filletting" the shock towers.
If so, how much extra room does this give you, over the stock standard settup?
Cheers,
Bill

Yeh, I was told that the RRS setup was pricey. I couldn't justify it for my mild combo with D3VE iron heads.
I hope the extra 2 inches on each side allows you to make decent pipes that will unleash that monstor motor of yours. It would be interesting to see if there is any power difference if you decide to dyno the motor again with the new pipes.

Finmach 09-24-2006, 03:57 AM That is one evil street engine you got there and 4 door car - no waiting to get in! I've been looking for RRS suspension and have also found it expensive. They surely do look good and fits like a glove. Friend of mine has RRS rack & pinion and the front struts. Those pieces looks like a true work of art. Haven't decided yet what to do.

gregaust 02-16-2007, 11:08 PM Geez Theo, that looks nice to see the outside shot of the whole car..That is TUFF AS...
What front springs do you have? It is nice height.. Has taken me a bit of effort to get mine right height i wanted...
the608 02-16-2007, 11:56 PM Thanks Reece - Greg,
Hi Greg the front springs are standard ford ute xd - xe v8 heavy duty from pedders with 1 coil chopped off, have bought another set and will be putting them in as is as i want the car to sit about an inch higher at the front, may need to look at other springs as with the old iron headed engine the front was a bit doughy could have been due to me cutting off a coil and the weight, will see what it is like with the new engine with less weight and go from there.
Theo
gregaust 02-17-2007, 12:05 AM Cool mate.. If you need ,PM me i have some measurements where the pedders springs sit from guard lip to wheel rim height if you need. Saves pulling springs a few times to get it right. They might help.
I ended up machining up some aluminium spacers to sit on top of the spring as a seat to get my height where i wanted.

the608 05-13-2007, 05:55 AM Hi,
Put the engine on the dyno and we got a little water leak off the head gasket so i decided to pull the heads off and mill them to bring the comp up to 11.1 and still run pump fuel, but before we pulled the heads off we gave it a pull on the dyno with the new pipes,
Here is what it made with the old 2.5 inch pipes,1050 domm,32 deg timing.
RPM LB/FT HP
4200 687.3 549.6
4500 694.6 595.1
4800 723.1 660.9
5100 732.4 711.2
5400 735.1 755.8
5700 746.2 809.9
6000 752.5 859.7
6300 740.0 887.7
6600 715.7 899.4
6900 691.0 907.8
And here is what it made with the new 2.25 inch pipes,1250 domm,26 deg timing ,2 inch super sucker, but only pulled it 6600 RPM
RPM LB/FT HP
4200 676.9 541.3
4500 749.2 641.9
4800 775.1 708.4
5100 785.9 762.2
5400 767.8 789.4
5700 775.1 840.1
6000 772.2 882.2
6300 746.8 895.8
6600 711.0 898.6
Made a heap more torque and power down low with the new pipes, will update whwn we get the heads back on.
Theo
dynosteve 05-14-2007, 02:30 PM one very very tuff motor, would have to be one of the most powerful xa falcons in the country now
Todd521 07-18-2007, 06:30 AM Hey Theo, how's the progress going on the XA?
the608 08-12-2007, 09:00 AM --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi,
Ran engine up today on the dyno, final comp ratio worked out to be 9.48 we gave it three pulls with 30 degree's timing and on Mobil premium unleaded fuel the best pull made
928.3 HP @6600 RPM & 819.1 FT/LB @4900 RPM.
Tommorow we will try new plugs, oil, tappets, etc, etc, and see how much more we can get out of it.
And a special thanks to Tony from TOP GUN RACING ENGINES for rebuilding and fixing the previous engine builders f%@#k ups  .
Theo
the608 08-13-2007, 08:02 AM Finished up on the dyno today, best pull was
Mobil unleaded
30 deg timing
1250 holley/102 jets all round
HVH super sucker/ 2 inch
Champion C59CX plugs
942 HP@6400 RPM
822 FT/LB@5300 RPM
Theo
Todd521 08-13-2007, 08:20 PM They are some awesome number Theo. That XA is going to be an absolute beast when it hits the streets. If you can hook up all that power, I reckon you'd be looking at very low 9's in full street trim. That is unreal. :D

ironbark 10-27-2007, 11:03 AM great to see all these aussies on here.
is there a paul from orange on here.
shock towers really do hinder progress, and we can't have that.
I did not know about the aftermarket kits, so I just cut them away and imprevised. how Aussie is that.
because it was either that or change the pipes, and I could not stand for that.

36 truck 01-04-2008, 09:49 AM ??? for all you OZ landers why are most of your performance cars 4 doors? Don't see to many 2door car over there.
BlownShotGun 01-07-2008, 06:51 AM Hello Tom,
The Ozzie Ford muscle cars started in 1967 with the Falcon XRGT (289 Windsor )as a 4 door. 1968 XT GT (302 Windsor). 1969-1970 XW GT (351 Wind. & 351 Cleve). 1970-1971 XY GT (All the rest 351 Cleve).
They were all 4 doors until 1972 when the XA GT was
introduced. This was a bit of a take-off from the American Torinos.
They were then offered as 2 and 4 door versions until 1976 when
the Muscle Car era sort of ended.
They have all become very collectable and there value has risen to suit demand.
My Xa Gt was until recent 460 powered. I am now going back to a sm block i purchase from the USA. It was an engine which came 5th in the 2006 Jeg's EMC. Found a couple of small problems with it when it arrived   but we'll sort it out.
hope this helps.

For our kids to ride with us. haha
More like availlability these days. 4 doors are much more readily availlable, and i personally like them, old & new. As long as it has bent Ford eight under the bonnet.
Go the 4 doors :)

Steve,
Thanks for the comments, your mustang looks awsome all the best with the build, will have to dig out the flow sheets for the heads but from memory the intake was flowing around 475 cfm@ 900 lift @28 inches.
Reece,
Check out my other vids on youtube,go into search and type in(xa gt 608)
Theo
Gasser 08-13-2008, 01:13 AM Thanks Theo would be very appreciated if you find them for me, I have ordered a set of lem and Charlie CNC ported ones they flow a little more than the 475 but you have 30 odd more cubes and you made 945 Hp Yahoo !!!! hope mine makes that lovely figure I will go to willowbank and beat up on some chev's :D :D :D
Steve
the608 08-13-2008, 02:05 AM Steve,
Wish i had got my heads from Charlie as he is one of the best head men on this site, my heads came ported and only flowed 440 cfm @900 lift,we ended up filling the intake port slightly to make it flow more.
Cheers Theo
