High Flow Dynamics Oil Pressure Shim Kit
This kit enables the end user to "shim up" the output pressure of their internal oil pump. Works with any 429/460
internal wet sump oil pump as offered by Melling, Dyna-Gear, Sealed Power, Ford Motorsport, Milodon and others. High
Pressure Shim Kit includes the following: three stainless steel shims (which should be enough to increase pressure
output between 10-30 p.s.i. depending on number of shims used), brand new factory original bypass pressure
replacement plug, and detailed instructions. This is by far the best $16 investment one could make on an otherwise
bone stock 429/460 oiling system.

Performance Oil Filter Adaptor

Our specially prepared oil filter adaptors have a radiussed exit so that oil can get around the hard corner easily and keep the downstream oil pressure better replenished. Also, by flaring the exit oil flow slows down as it enters the block cavity which reduces turbulence in the cavity and helps prepare it for the abrupt turn. Another nice feature is that our adaptor's block threads have a shoulder at the top so that it cannot be screwed too far into the engine block and bottom out/cause a restriction unto itself. We include a 3/4-16 nut to facilitate installation. Instructions included. Brand new filter adaptor

Do you spot face the oil pump at the mating surfaces for the bolts? I've had problems with the bolt heads not setting flush on these pumps...not a good thing.

Paul,

Do you spot face the oil pump at the mating surfaces for the bolts? I've had problems with the bolt heads not setting flush on these pumps...not a good thing. These pumps are made in big batches with many pump housing casting molds, each of which may have slight differences. So as far as cleaning up the top side of the oil pump mountng pad, this is handled on a case-by-case basis, usually deemed unnessary, but occassionally addressed. Sounds like you have one that may need a little detailing. We give all our pumps a thorough inspection both before and after the modifications.

Your oil pressure is plenty/right where it should be. Oil pressure may be increased with the use of the shim kit, but I don't think you need this at all...sounds like you have great pressure!

Randy,

Your motor could use most any of the pumps we offer, based on it's displacement, HP level and application. Other details about it will help nail down the most suitable internal oil pump.

PM me your number or give me a call (number on website) and we can go over this together.

ps 327 geared street cruiser 13 flat is goal. The Stage 1 rear sump pump would work fine in your application and not drain your pan in the quarter mile, nor would it do so for long distances down the freeway, around town, etc. We've run them succesfully in street builds for tens of thousands of miles and have run them in motors that have a 6-quart pan and run a sustained 5000+ rpm without any issues.

Give me a call and we'll work out a deal.

thanks PaulThe Stage 1 and Stage 2 oil pumps can work fine with your D9TE block or any other production block, A460 block, A96 Block, Boss block, and any Eliminator block.

All production blocks have a .500" (1/2-inch) diameter oil gallery at the oil pump pad. Our pumps have a .5625" (9/16-inch) diameter exit gallery. You may bolt the oil pump to the pad as-is or enlarge your gallery at the oil pump pad to 9/16" easily enough (and recommended).

busuopn,

Our Stage 1 and Stage 2 prepped pumps are essentially the same external configuration as the oem Melling high volume oil pumps. Therefore, it ought to clear/not clear any aftermarket brand girdle as much as the typical M84DHV pump.

Bear in mind that this may or may not mean that come grinding on your girdle may be needed to for clearancing, just as would an out-of-the-box unmodified Melling pump in some cases. Or it may not, depending on girdle brand, etc. This is just part of custom engine building.

Feel free to give me a call and I'll be happy to discuss your build and together we can select the best pump for you, Stage 1 or Stage 2.

The oil mod you are asking about hardly affects oil pressure, if at all. Remember that you have 16 pushrod leaks, 16 lifter bore leaks, 8 rod bearing leaks, 5 main bearing leaks, 5 cam bearing leaks, the dizzy shaft leak, plus the front timing gear leak...well over 50+ "oil leaks" in your engine! Will one more make a significant difference in oil flow or oil pressure loss? 8)

The small amount of oil that exits the dizzy gear passage is so slight that the oil pump easily compensates (the oil pump's bypass pressure piston may simply stay shut a hair longer...).

Finally, you don't need our Stage 2 Kit just to "keep up" with oil pressure loss due to the added dizzy gear lube mod; even our Stage 1 oil pump can supply more than enough oil under the circumstances. Don't select your oil pump based on this mod; select your oil pump based on your overall build. Our Stage 2 Kit is a very high end pump designed for high horsepower / high load / high rpm builds and is usually way more pump than most engines may need (but made available for the builds that need one).

I lost my oil cooler (leaking water into oil passages) at this last race so I will look for any water damage to the pump. The funny thing is when we first started this engine we had 50psi now after we burned the small amout of water off the oil we have 65psi.

Paul, what upgrades have you made to the Stage I pumps...just wondering.
NickNick,

The 2nd Generation pump's have some detail changes as noted in a post above and also quoted below:
New features found in the Gen 2 Pumps include:
Updated details in our signature oil bypass piston mods
Oil pump body's external configuration is now the same as an out-of-the-box Melling
SHCS Cap Screws in the gerotor cover have been replaced with black oxided Button Head Screws which allow for maximum oil pan clearance.
No increase in price!
PaulOriginally, the primary reason for the change is that the price of our pumps was going to have to be increased (along with everything else going up in price these days). This forced us to look for ways to keep costs down, and I'm pleased to say the result was that we stumbled onto components that enabled us to reduce labor costs and (technically) make pump improvements in the process. And so we are able to keep our price where it has always been.

The perfofmance characteristics of our 2nd generation oil pumps is identical to the 1st Generation oil pumps. Also, Gen 1 oil pumps can be updated to Gen 2 oil pumps, should you ever get the desire.

Thanks for your help.Alan,

The Stage 1 prepped pump may do, depending on final oil pump setup and depending on the application of your engine. A Stage 2 Kit might also be the way to go in your particular build (we get a lot of calls for the Stage 2 Kit but I usually steer the customer to the Stage 1--you might be one of the exceptions).

Please PM me a telephone number and I'll give you a call (too much to type).

Are all the Stage 1 prepped M84DHV pumps gone? These are for rear sump, correct? Thanks Dave S.Dave,

We offer the Stage 1 prepped pumps both ways: in rear sump (M84DHV) and front sump (M84BHV). The Stage 2 Kits are available as rear sump only.

We currently have Stage 1 prepped front sump pumps in stock. Every batch of rear sump pumps sells out pretty fast and so we need to produce another run yet again, sorry. The rear sump pumps have been ordered and we await their arrival.

Our Gen 2 pumps are available in front sump or rear sump configuation.

All,

We've added a new product to our Lubrication line, the Performance Oil Filter Adaptor:

Performance Oil Filter Adaptor

Our specially prepared oil filter adaptors have a radiussed exit so that oil can get around the hard corner easily and keep the downstream oil pressure better replenished. Also, by flaring the exit oil flow slows down as it enters the block cavity which reduces turbulence in the cavity and helps prepare it for the abrupt turn.

http://home.earthlink.net/~highflowdynamics/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/filteradaptor_002.jpg

Another nice feature is that our adaptor's block threads have a shoulder at the top (blue arrow) so that it cannot be screwed too far into the engine block and bottom out/cause a restriction unto itself. And the block threads are not too tall (orange arrow) for the same reason.

http://home.earthlink.net/~highflowdynamics/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/filteradaptor_003a.jpg

We include a 3/4-16 nut to facilitate installation. Instructions included.
