I'll check into CMM services first. Give you their quote, in writing. Then I can figure out how much I have to do and spend. I'm not looking at this like a cash cow, but I have to be interested. Getting my 460 machined (the basics) is what I was thinking for my services.

I'm in Michigan. There are a lot of CMM's around here. The company I work for does have a CMM but it's not for hire.

But it's just data transfer, so we don't need to ship a 460 all over the country. I'm sure I could find a CMM for hire, and I do have a 460 block.

How much is it worth to you? I can't afford to do it for the fun of it myself.

A lot of machinists, which is what I am BTW so I know the mentality, are amazingly inept, ignorant and most importantly, arrogant.

I could tell that you know how to get things done, were realistic, and didn't need a lecture.

I kinda think its sad. Somebody or company thinking about doing ford aftermarket billet blocks and you get negativity??? Geez! Just for your knowledge I have been in and worked for machine shops for awhile. I was also part of a company that was banned from nascar nhra and ihra for making billet ceramic composite internal engine components. I am not new to this just I am not a machinist.

I'm sensing some hostility for sure. Weird. Myself, it usually ticks me off when I ask a tech question, and I get an opinion. If I wanted to ask whether or not I should do something, I would have asked, whether or not I should do something!

One way or another, yes, a Coordinate Measuring Machine. Set a 460 on the surface plate and measure away, either automatically or manually.
