68xr7cat Unless it came out of a 428 car if it is stock should be 28 spline axle and they interchange with the 8" too. Brakes will bolt on, 8" may have 10x1-3/4" brakes or 10x2 just have to look and see.

68montego Yeah I measured and the yoke is a 1330. Dont know what my driveshaft is tho ill have to check. Yeah I could get it all apart and go through it or I can just run it and see what happens lol. Yeah think its 28 spline. They are ten inch brakes. Shoes are 2" wide. I will have to check with the 8" rear to see if I can use the stuff. That would be sweet!

68xr7cat 3.55 gear? Is that for a 9" or 8.8? BTW those Auburns are not rebuildable and not something I'd recommend for a 9". For a 9" rebuild a traction lock, leave out the pre load springs and shim it. A Detroit locker is an even better if you know how to drive.

butterbean it looks good Ryan, I have a friend that has a center section with 355 gears and a auburn 28 spline posi for sale I think he wants like 500. for it

68xr7cat Just an FYI the brakes from your 8" should bolt up, but 9" may have the bigger brakes. You should have a small wheel bearing axle there. Also the small wheel bearing axles to convert over to disc look for a setup off a 90's crown vic. It will bolt up, may just need a spacer for the wheel bearing. The explorer setup like FRPP used to sell has the larger "torino" wheel bearing pattern.

Watch your driveshaft lenght and u-joints. A 8" with a 302 usually be a 3310 while a BB be a 3330 u joint. They do sell a conversion u joint. Also the 9" will be longer so shorter driveshaft. There are a few different yokes, if I remember right the ones from some pickups are shorter so sometimes can get away just changing the yoke. Of course changine pinion yokes you have to be careful to make sure you don't mess up the pinion bearing preload because of the crush collar. Guess get your tape measure out... LOL

68montego Well I wired wheeled it then applied some rust converter and then painted it. Also got my new wheel cylinders and hardware kit for the brakes. Decided to just get it in and going then later on ill do disk brake setup on it. For now I think it looks just fine the way it is. Have to get the drums cut as well buy its coming along. About to tear down the 460 finally to get it to the machine shop this weekend!! Woo hoo!!! Progress!!!

butterbean yeah like ESP or something, mine is coming along ok I guess, I took the C-6 out and put it on a pallet and sent it to New York, a member on here and baught a Turbo-400 and a ultrabell to go back but not got it in yet and still got some aluminum work on the trans tunnel and the roll bar so I'm getting there, how much more you got to get for your engine?

68montego That's funny you posted because I was just about to post about progress I''m about to make lol. This weekend I went to three different states to get parts. Took me and a friend about 10 hours total. But I got a set of TRW forged domed pistons for a steal for my C9 460 I'm building. They are standard bore so hopefully just fit right in and I just need to get rings and some c clip retainers for the wrist pins. Also got a 9 inch rear finally! Came out of a 1968 torino gt so it will drop right into my wagon! It's not a posi but its 3.25 gears and one step closer to going fast. The brakes need replaced and new drums as well so I'm thinking about a disk brake conversion on it before I put it in the car. Got head studs and installed them on the block just to put the pro comp heads on real quick, and it looks sweet having aluminum heads. Never had anything but iron heads before. Need to do some exhaust work on them and then get them to the machine shop as well. Starters dead on the wagon tho so it's been sitting for the past two weeks. Always something I swear! How's your's coming along?

Hey, if you are looking for another block, lol.... I decided to sell off my D0VE 460-A block. It's the one I pulled. .030 over, o-ringed deck, has the machining from pan rail to mains so it can be 4-bolted. I still have to strip it down to bare block. Going to sell the cast D3VE heads off too. Slightly ported, gasket matched, bigger valves, double springs....
let me know if you or anyone you know is interested. Havent really given $ much thought yet. Been too busy working on other block but will be listing a ton of stuff towards end of month like rocker girdles, main girdle, etc, etc......
If there is anything you are looking for shoot me a PM
Hope all is going well for ya!
Talk to you later,

butterbean Ryan, did you buy those procomps?

68montego Well guys after selling the last early 460 short block that i acquired and searching for months for another one, I finally have found one. Its from a 1969 lincoln and its been sitting in storage for 25 years. Going to take a trip up to New York to pick it up this weekend. And on the way back I am going to stop and pick up an 8.8 rear from an explorer with disk brakes, and 3.73 limited slip gears!! So hopefully within the next month Ill have a new rear with some actual real gears in my wagon and power disk brakes alll around!! Want to make a beastly 460 to replace my 429 as well. that will take a bit more time tho.
