 Wow I didn't even see it happen, one minute I'm cranking over the car the next i here a tick and then car dies. #8 intake is all bent to hell.
Second i have three push rods that keep rubbing up against the guide plates, Is my geometry off that bad??
To avoid any new conflicts I'm going to buy a whole new set of push rods and Studs. and start from scratch.
I just hope I havent' screwed up my cam i haven't had it running long enough to break it in. and the bent push rod has me concerned should I be? :?: :?:

1) It doesn't take too much time to bend a pushrod.

2) Do you have chebby rocker arms?

3) Yes, you should be concerned. Bend pushrods come from coil bind or the valve hitting the piston. Turn the motor over by hand with the spark plugs out to check coil bind, and if it's not that, then it's the valves hitting the piston.

8) 1.73 roller tipped. i believe their chevy, based on design, It may be coil bind, not likely valves hitting piston i still have the original deep dish pistons in. 20-22cc's.
the roller rocker keeps coming off the top of the valve tip, i swapped out a DOVE-C 1971 push rod in its place and it hasnt bent. all the others are from my 73 D3VE-A2A, and the DOVE-C were in first, # 8 bent so i swapped in the D3's the # 8 bent again, i swapped ina good DOVE and no bend so far. I was just trying to save some money, buy using them, geuss i don't do that again, but some are still rubbing against the guide plates. So i know I have to replace the whole set. Best to do it now and do it right or not do it at all.

Measured up everything today and put in new studs. My rods were to long.
have a new set of Comp Cams hardened ordered. so i'll just have to wait and reset - up everything. Hopefully i didn't wipe a lifter and a lobe.
Thanks for all the advise.

I didnt bend push rods but when I removed the covers from the motor I found the same. Then my oil pressure dropped and the clatter started. So I yanked the motor to find the crank was chowed on, the oil pickup was full of garbage, so it was tear down time. The oil pick up had fire soot in the screen. I did a ground up detail on the insides and fixed all that was bad, along with the binding pushrods. I did a complete update and installed a romp stick to change the power curve. Once I got all the fixing finished this motor went to crank it up, and the shock treatment set in. I did a double pumper install and it still burns lean. I have a long way to go before I finish this project. 22,057.00 and moved it from the garage and back in. Good Luck, Leyam
