How on gods green earth did you get that trans out with the motor in there? I've looked at mine and have decided if the trans ever has to come out the motor is coming with it. I'd never get my hads up in there to get the bolts out. Or do you have holes in the firewall to take them out? And then detaching the torque converter from the flywheel?? .....forget it. I give up. Nice job getting it out. I'm impressed.

Where did you score the fiberglass doors and how much? I'd really like a set of the Harwood doors (I'm assuming that is what you have) but they are about $850 a set. Not much compared to everything else I have in the car but it is still yet another $850.

Looks good so far. You are doing a nice job.

And as far as tubing the front end goes? That wasn't a mistake. .....building a Chebby is a mistake!! :D

I have the motor in the car pretty low, maybe too low. It was really easy. got the top 2 out from top, bottoms was easy and the ones in center I used 2 long exstensions and a swivel.

I got the doors here in MI locally from a guy that makes them at his shop. 750 for the pair complete and I didnt have to worry about shipping.

Another 2 steps forward and now 2 steps back:mad: Flywheel came in yesterday, put it back on car with trans and while Im under there I see coolant sepage from between heads and block. Im running cometic gaskets with copper coat. Mind you all I have not even drove this car yet. Only idle time and temp only went to 180.

got the car back on the scales today after all the recent work I done on car, front tube, new radiator and fan, plastic dash, glass doors. I must say Im pleasantly suprised again. Car came in at 2444lbs but im only at about half of fuel in 5 gallon tank and no rear end lube yet:D* I weigh 230 ish so I still should be able to come in at race weight of just under 2700lbs totally. I'm cool with that lol.*

took some video of cae today

Well I decided to fire the car up today and drive it around the block for the first time** Car is not race ready, its go around the block tho. wires are temporary and no gauges are mounted yet, lol. 14 to 1 c/r could not find any blue so its 93 octane with booster. didnt hammer on it so should be fine.

start up with new front facing headers

first pass around the block**with IKAM glasses felt good. just broke tires loose 1st and 2nd barely touching it, but it was cold and roads are salty so its tobe expected.

vid of motor after first pass with some idle ajustments

all in all motor sounds good, feels good, now Im gonna take it out pull the heads off and put the correct rings(nos rings) in it that was suppose to be there in the first place.*:x*

Awesome!

I love it! you are ten feet away from the car and you have to yell to be heard over the exhaust :)

Also, you're crazy to drive that beast on the streets :) especially with the snow in the background.

Keep up the great work!

Congratulations! It sounds awesome, I like the camera glasses. Wish we had a video of a passing by. I guess your not going to have any passengers, that sure is a lot of wiring lol. I like the front exits you don't see that a lot, you sure made a lot of room for them tho. Glad to see you finally got it down and out for a ride bet it felt so great. I didn't realize how long you had been working on it til I went back and looked at the date. You've come so far with only a few months til spring. And here I was super impatient working on mine for a few months haha. Just as you got it all together your going to tear it apart lol I guess what else is there to do in the winter time. Good luck and enjoy the new year!!

Hey thx man. I feel really dumb cause I got it all done in the last 2 months, but it has sat in my garage for over 3 years with me touching it rarely. It wouldve been pretty sick if I had come out with it 3 years ago.

Wiring looks bad but it isnt, just have to mount my panel and wires will be tucked away. Plus that was the tach wires with jumper wires to hot and ground. Cant wait to hit the track:D

slight update

No major changes. Sold my racepak sportsman and got the v300sd:D. weather finally about to break. Gonna get the front suspension dialed in and maybe take the car to get it scaled.

A few updates, What I thought was a coolant leak is actually oil and it my be leaking down from rear of intake. I got the front end aligned, added head lites, bought new rear rims(12x15 5inbs and 29.5x10.5W's) for the car. I should be heading to the track in a week or so. I drove car around the block a few times and it pulls to the left going only 15mph and this is after I got it aligned 2x**

Oh yeah I did install my racepak and dash, just need to mount d.s collar. Bought a front end limiter kit from team z just need to install it.*

finally made it to the track

Finally made it to the track with my car. car ran great for being first time ever. Went down the track straight as an arrow, really effortless to drive. first pass of the foot brake and idle was 1.45 60foot 9.22@145mph didnt feel anyfaster than my 10sec car was.

second pass was off trans brake 3500rpm was 1.39 60 foot 9.00@151mph

car leaves like a pig, converter is too tight. made 2 more passes and yes I did get my 8sec pass and this is all motor passes.

Gonna get a 5200/5400 stall convertor, as I am looking for atleast 8.50's on motor. will have vids in a few days.

videos are up

first pass of foot brake at idle and throttle not opening all the way, smoke up top is from tires rubbing rear fenders 29.5x10.5W
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxBcCdkTs7Q

dont have 2nd pass. Here is 3rd pass off the brake at 4400 but I dont thing it reved that hi. I forgot to shift, shift lite not working. bounced it off the limiter at 8 grand shifted and then down shifted at the 1000ft mark by accident.

last past of the nite. had stall at 4600 but it left at only 4000rpm on the racepak. I shifted at 7600rpm and went through the traps at 7100rpm. fastest pass of the nite. second video is a different shot.
